3-2-1 PROTEIN mug cake :)
So, I was really excited when I discovered the 3-2-1 cake recipe... I'm always looking for modified treats that satisfy my cravings but also aren't a guilty splurge. That being said, I also like to try to modify things so it can be a treat but also have some good qualities... not just "not terrible for you," but treats that actually have some benefit to them. So I played around with the traditional 3-2-1 cake recipe and now, it's my "Chocolate Protein Mug Cake."
Traditional 3-2-1 Cake: In a large bag mix together 1 package of angel food cake mix and 1 package of any other flavor cake mix (I use Devil's Food - yum!). Put 3 tablespoons of mix + 2 tablespoons of water in a mug and microwave for 1 minute. Calories ~110 (depending on cake brand, etc.).
Chocolate Protein Mug Cake: Mix together your two cake mixes as in the 3-2-1 recipe. Put 2 tablespoons of the mix in a mug. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar free fat free chocolate jell-o instant pudding mix. Add 1/2 scoop of Myofusion Chocolate Whey Protein mix. Add about 3 tablespoons of water (consistency should be on the thicker side but you should be able to stir it). Microwave for about 45 seconds (I like mine to have a little "goo" to it; if you want it to be completely cooked/cake-like, try microwaving for the full minute).
I find the protein version of this cake to have a much, much denser consistency. It's more of a fudgy-cake consistency, whereas the 3-2-1 cake has a spongier consistency. The protein version has about 188 calories, BUT for the 78 extra calories, the protein goes from 1g to 13g AND there is 2g less sugar in the protein version. It's also much more filling. I say it's worth it!
