I've been with MFP for about 10 days now.... it's a great tool that I really believe will help me to my goal. There are some great folks on here.... however I am looking for some people to blend with that have some holistic leanings and openness. When I usually determine to lose weight (the saga has been yoyo-ing over 25 years!) I click into a natural foods groove, desiring to reach a superior health status, as well shed the pounds. I consume copious amounts of produce, maybe juice, take supplements.....etc.... But, everytime I am a purist, I will falter after weeks or months and then be so devastated that I blew it I'd revert to old destructive habits..

I did a month of vegetarian living, mostly veges, a bit of grains, etc...about 2 months ago and lost maybe 3 pounds. It was frustrating. I started reading Jillian Michael's, Mastering you Metabolism, and really think she may have some ideas that help me to jump-start my metabolism. So, I started MFP without putting myself into the tiny vegetarian/pure purist box. I'm going to eat some clean meat and dairy (which I don't eat a lot of usually anyway) and I'm going to not beat myself up about perfection. I may even eat something with refined flour now and then.... I prefer not to, but if I do, I'm gonna press on, no big deal. BUT, I do want to be healthy and that means something different to some than others. It would be nice to have some friends that present me with new natural ideas and are mostly on the road to whole health, along with weight loss.

I've read B.Jensen, A. Ehret, The Diamonds, Bragg, Gerson (went to clinic in Mexico with a family member), Hallelujah Diet, N. Walker, D. Gates (Body Ecology Diet), been to a NHF conference... and other dabblings. However, I have sadly hung out with HaagenDazs and Mrs Sees. A sick double life. I'm willing to learn of new and varied findings, authors, and websites.

Of course fitness is so important and I'm out of wack there, but working on it and hope to progress to outdoor activites, cool classes, and maybe light lifting.

So, if you are serious about your weight loss, desire to do so mostly "naturally," and in this for the long haul (> 40 pounds, as I have 90 to lose and would like some pals to give/get support throughout) ....let me know your thoughts and where you are coming from. If you've had success and overcome these issues, please give us feedback, as well.
