Unexpected Benefits

My weight loss, cardio, and strength training exercises have been paying unexpected benefits. First, at my recent eye doctor visit the doctor said my eyes were in the best condition he had seen since I have been his patient. Who'da thunk it?

Next, since Arewethereyet has been showing off her "guns" in her ticker, I decided to copy what she did with mine.

After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

Not bad for an old fart, huh?

Funny you should ask. I found them in our exercise facility here at the Sheriff's Office after work. Maybe one of our deputies forgot them when they went on patrol.

Having "bad" eyes all my life you've given me something to look forward to! I think alot of it has to do with blood pressure (?).

And from the looks of those arms, it looks like you ski up hills :) Congrats!

PS - that arm next to "107 lbs lost" is very cool

Wow, you're putting this lazy 27-year-old to shame! I'd say that having muscles like that just isn't fair, but I'm sure you've worked very hard for them. Ok, so I'm not -really- lazy, but I definitely don't work out unless the weather is nice and I want to take the dogs for a walk. I'm working on that one.

The eye improvement is something I could definitely use though, so that's one more motivation to get my butt moving more!

The doc attributed the eye health improvement to my lowered blood pressure and now normal A1C and glucose levels. Guess the correlation between eye problems & blindness that diabetics have problems with relates to their blood sugar levels.

great job! those arms look awesome!

congrats on the almost 35 yrs anniversary. not only is that absolutely adorable, it goes to show a lot of ppl that a marriage can last, you can grow old together (not that you act or feel or look old), and you don't have to get divorced and remarry 2 or 3x in your lifetime before you make it work. I hope to be as lucky as you in 35 years.

hmm so lemme ask you this, (I'm not married /engaged yet), but what advice do you have for a long lasting marriage like yours?

Well, thanks for the compliments! As for advice for a long lasting marriage, let me give you the toast I gave our son & daughter-in-law at their marriage 4 1/2 years ago. (We're now grandparents and about to be grandparents again). They had been on many camping trips together so I told them: "A good marriage is like a good campfire. The logs must be close enough together so that each contributes its heat and light to the fire, yet far enough apart so that each may breathe. May your marriage be like a good campfire."

In addition to that advice. Let me add: Choose wisely. This will be the most important choice you ever make. And having common goals, interests, and avocations also helps ensure that you and your mate will be friends for life.

Would any other MFPers like to add any advice?

My husband makes me laugh everyday. I love how silly we are together. I think it is a big part of what makes us work.

We've only been married a year and a half, but we've been together for 9.

34at35, I love how active you and your wife are together. You both are role models in life, love, and health!
