Noticing Other People's Weight

OK, so, I am not saying this to be mean to ANYONE but, I have to ask.

Since I have started trying to be more healthy and exercise, I tend to notice those around me, or those, through work, that have gained weight. WHY? There was a guy who came into the office yesterday that hadnt been here in awhile and I noticed that he seemed to have gained about 50 lbs. I cant say what goes through my head when I notice this. I DO ask myself and wonder if everything is OK with them...I do NOT say anything to them about it...just something that i seem to notice. It is the same with some family members as well and, also, I do NOT say anything to them about it. I dont feel like I judge them in my head but, i do notice it.

NOW, to add to that, I DO also notice when those around me have lost weight too. I saw an old friend I hadnt seen in a lil while over the weekend and noticed her weight loss.

Am I normal? Does anyone else noticed both of these things too? I think it is because I ALWAY felt other people noticed my weight gain when it happened?

I notice weight when I look at strangers. I also notice hair and style. Those are my big “things” that can really attract me to someone when they are the way I prefer them. I don’t tend to notice eye color or smile types because those just aren’t my “things”. I think everyone has certain physical characteristics that they care more about than others.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with being attracted to a certain body type/hair type/eye color/style etc. so I don’t think there is anything wrong with noticing.

If you happen to be someone for whom weight is of importance you are more likely to notice changes in body weight/type if someone gains or loses weight.

Since I have started my journey I have been waaaaaaaayyyy more aware of people's weight. I am not sure this is normal though. lol I also catch myself thinking that everyone should join MFP. I love this website, I think people would stop eating so much fast food along with other things.

absolutely. anything you're more attuned to in yourself, at any given moment, automatically makes you more attuned to in others. when i wanted to get my cartilage pierced, i started noticing cartilage piercings everywhere. the same with my tattoos. and definitely with weight.
  • yea I always notice when people lose or gain weight, and also I think about strangers I see in the street and think " am I as thin as them" "is my bum bigger" etc etc... I think i'm far too weight obsessed to be honest!!

I don't worry about other people and their weight....I give advice only if asked and I am limited to what I say because people are so sensitive about that topic..
