Sugar... my evil enemy!

I'll spare you all my story, but the short version is that I'm starting to find a direct correlation between the days I consume sugar (we're talking junk- candy, cookies, cake, etc... not the natural sugar found in fruits, etc.) I overeat and am hungry beyond belief. I had found what worked for me, and had lost 13 pounds with MFP between March and August:happy: , but have since gained it all back:angry: in the process of over-eating, finding out that I'm either gluten sensitive or have Celiac's disease (still in the process of doctor's appointments to get everything straightened out), and have an abnormal thyroid that I'm going to be put on medication for. I'm determined to get these 13 pounds off (again) and pick up where I left off... just 5 pounds from my goal weight.

I can't have cookies, cake, pie, brownies, etc.:noway: because they all have gluten (flour) in them so you'd think this would be easy, right? Wrong! Ice cream is my worst nightmare, along with candy that always seems to show up at work. I had 2 little tiny lollipops today at work and I think that pushed me downhill for the rest of the day. It's absolutely a slippery slope for me. It's all or nothing.

I've joined other groups, but I've kind of faded out of them. Figured if I started one myself I wouldn't be allowed to drop out!

So, I'm trying to go sugar free... I'm kicking it to the curb! Who's with me on my NO SUGAR journey? :flowerforyou: I'm going to check in every day as a way to hold myself accountable. If you'd like to, you can do the same!

I am just the same way! I'm doing the no sweets until Thanksgiving challenge on here...I'll have a dessert that day, but after that I want to go without them until Christmas. It's so much easier for me not to have them at all. Good luck!

Don't know how new you are to the whole gluten thing, but make sure you aren't getting any hidden gluten in stuff, it goes by so many names, the crafty little devil! I'm allergic to wheat, and my hubby and 2 of my kids have celiacs, after I stopped eating wheat, and all other gluten for that matter, I found that losing weight was much easier. Less effort on my part, and way more results! Hopefully you will find the same thing. Be careful of the candy, a lot of it is manufactured on the same lines that manufacture gluten products, and they do not have to list that on the label, be sure you research everything that comes out of a package.
Good luck with your no sugar journey, I am way too weak and addicted to go there, I would just make myself feel bad when I failed!

I recommend reading a book called Sugar Busters. I helped my mom not eat sugar and she feels and looks a lot better!

  • i don't want to cut sugar out completely, but i am aware that i eat way more than i should. i suppose my goal would be staying under 30grams/day. most of these sugars should be from fruits. does this kind of go along with this group's goals?

Sure. That works. My goal is no processed sugar, but I'm not limiting my sugar from fruit and other natural sources at this point. Welcome :flowerforyou:
