Carbs: Seeking Foods Low In Them But With A Catch

So today I hit over my fiber, protein, and unfortunately sodium. I was under cals although I wished I could have eaten them so I don't eat too few. But I didn't eat more because I was over carbs (I had a banana a moment ago which was the nail in that coffin).
So I have two questions. First, how much over is too much over as far as carbs go?
Second, what are some foods that might be a little high in calories, or even moderately so, but low in carbohydrates? That way if I need something to fill this kind of particular gap, I have something.
-- Sincerely, hungry and tired but going to bed.
(I worked out a lot today so I don't know if I'm tired because I didn't end up eating my workout cals all back or if it's just one of those days but I am relatively ignorant with nutrition so I don't want to be hurting myself accidentally. As a third question, anyone know of any good guide to nutrition basics I can view on the web or something?)

some good ways to pump up your protein with little carbs:
Lowfat dairy (cottage cheese, hard cheeses, skim milk, yogurt)
lean protien (chicken, fish, turkey, lean pork)
Nuts-- Almonds are great, and satisfying.
As far as learning more abotu nutrition...google is your friend!! Ask it your questions....but I did a quick search and found this site. It seems to have some good basics. http://nutrition.about.com/od/basicnutritionecourse/a/carbohydrates_2.htm (cut and paste the link)
If you're truly hungry, and you haven't eaten your calories for the day, I'd find something to fill the gap....even if you end up over in carbs, think about what kind of carbs. Complex carbs like whole grains, (brown rice, oatmeal, bran cereal,) these are all good fo you, and filling.0 -
Hello, i am limited to High FIber low carb foods.. SO I eat no WHITE bread, its hard but worth it. I eat stuff like Flat out bread, high fiber low fat bagels and english muffins or kangaroo pita pockets. I also eat LOTS of Protein, Chicken mainly, lunch meat, cottage cheese low fat, low fat cheese, Eggs Stuff like that.. if you enjoy cereal, fiber one cereal or low sugar oatmeal, I also love fiber one bars. good luck:bigsmile:0
