Me vs. Protein shakes :huh:

I'm vegetarian and I get most of my protein from milk, which is not an issue as I really like milk and I never feel I have to push it down the throat. :bigsmile: And I'm usually over the amount that mfp suggests which I personally think is really low. However, I've this protein powder (Optimum Nutrition - Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein - Extreme Milk Chocolate) at home and I've tried numerous times to make me fall in love with it, but I just can't stand it :ohwell: I've tried mixing it up with milk/fruits/nuts, nothing's worked and I find it extremely distasteful. My question is: how do you guys enjoy it? And do I have to have protein shakes if I wanna lose weight and be more toned? And if possible could you please tell me some of the advantages and disadvantages (if there are) of using or not using protein shakes. I mean why protein shakes :explode:

  • I'm vegetarian too : ) I just mix it with a half cup of water and a cup of ice to make it kind of like a frappe. In the morning i will use coffee instead of water to wake me up a bit. I don't mind it in the least. I use it not only to get the protein i don't get form meat but it also fills me up a lot faster than a traditional meal would, plus it helps to keep my sodium down.

    if you want more protein try tofu too because it's delicious
