Knee problems

I have been working out for 4 weeks straight, 6 days a week. I do interval training on the elliptical M, W, F and couch to 5 k and elliptical T th and sat. Yesterday and today I have felt pain or discomfort not on my knee but on the inside by where your thigh would be (but not my thigh/my knee). It doesn't hurt when I am exercising but when I am on the floor playing with my son or getting up and down. Any suggestions what this could be? It's not pain persay but it is discomfort!

Sounds like it is something in the general category of runner's knee. Take it easy for a few days and look up some knee strengthening exercises to do. If it' s still bothering you after taking some time off go see your doctor. You can find a lot of info online if you search for "runner's knee" and I can tell you that the website for Runner's World magazine has great info and exercises. When you are ready to go again the elliptical shouldn't be too bad for your knee but ease into the running. Good luck!0

I hurt my knee a few months ago, and it turns out I had torn the cartilage and the ligament on the inside of my knee (MCL). I went to see a doctor and he suggested physiotherapy.
Take it easy for a few days and ice it a few times a day, see if that helps. If it doesn`t improve after a few days, go see your doctor or a physiotherapist.0 -

Also maybe you need a chiropractic adjustment....like if your hips are "out" it will affect your knees (and everything else, it seems!).
Maybe if you go ahead and carefully ice them that will help you today.0 -

That's where my knee hurts. I was supposed to have surgery but no way! I use KT Tape and its amazing!!! You buy it at sporting good stores. Just go to the web page and it shows you how to use it for that injury. I never have pain with it.0

^^^^^Yes, agree with Mellie. You are probably overdoing on that TYPE of exercise. I would Go lo-impact like for example incline bike, elliptical and some lifting, too.0

That's at the bottom of the forum pages.
But we still like to get the experiences/ input of others.0 -
I now wear an elasticated, tubular bandage round my knee when I do any sort of walking, training or even driving long distamce ( car is not an automatic). Or I should say I am supposed to. It helps loads. If it feels a bit weak, as it sounds yours does now, I just slip on the bandage.
I am now also going to google runners knee and see about knee strengthening excercises, - so thanks to the poster.0 -

THIS. I got one of those and no pain after my runs! Squats and lunges as well as hamstring strengthening can help too!0
