More calories burnt the day after a long run?

Just curious really, I did my first 'proper' 10k yesterday (as in only going down to walk for a few seconds at a time and really pushing myself to my absolute limit to the point i was nearly in tears) and my legs are in agony today so have decided to have a rest day as cant imagine it being good for me to run again or go to the gym.

Will i naturally be burning more calories than usual today as my muscles are busy repairing themselves? Or does that only really happen with strength training? Also, how much longer do you burn a higher rate of calories for after stenuous exercise, if any?
