Food Allergy??

I'm just wondering, I think I may have IBS but I'm not sure, my stomach swells all the time it seems if I sit too long or stand too long & if I eat bread or tomatoes, really just abt anything.. I've been told it could be foods with gluten but I'm just wondering if anyone else has this problem & if so what helps??

It does sound like a gluten issues. Thats what happens to one of my husbands employees if he eats grain. Id go see the doc and get confirmation. That does make sense though because you eat well and exercise a lot and after all that hard work, you deserve more results. Maybe something like that is screwing up your system?

you bring up chinese food as well- that could be MSG intolerance too...
or it could be yeast intolerance ....I have done a lot of reading on this...interesting stuff...I did cut all this out for 2 weeks myself and I felt sooo much better and lost 10lbs but I love bread and beer so I just deal with consequences most of the time :( dumb I know lol

You may or may not get much help from your doctor. Many doctors don't know much about food allergies/intollerances or refuse to believe they exist. For years I went to doctors and GI specialist who would throw out the IBS term just because they had not other ideas to offer. I would suggest keeping a food diary and logging when your symptoms hit. You may start finding a pattern.

I have coeliac disease so all gluten out , but over last 2 years other intolerences have started , such as tomatoes , celery , milk etc , so you would be best to get checked out properly , before you exclude foods

    Good Luck Nuttyjo:smile:

I actually have a blog that I started a few month ago to document everything with my food allergies. You can check out the About Me page and About Blog page to read about what I went through and discovered.

    http://eating4balance.wordpress.com

Basically I started having stomach problems all of the sudden. Bloating, stomach pain, my stomach would get larger over the day, hurt after meals, etc. And it really was ALL OF THE SUDDEN.

Doctors thought it was a "sensitive" stomach, IBS, lactose intolerance... I had three blood works done, saw 4 doctors, 1 endoscopy, 1 colonoscopy. None of the above.

It turns out that I have food allergies. Wheat and rye (so basically gluten), egg, milk, peanut, tomato, celery, pork, corn, yogurt (yeast).

Now I am seeing a holistic nurse to get myself back in balance. I took antibiotics for 4 years for acne. It put my stomach in utter chaos and caused me a host of other problems.

WOW. That was longer than I thought it was going to be. Lol. I hope you figure everything out and keep us posted!
