I have never been "skinny" but growing up I was always very active and into playing sports all the way through high school and weighing around 145lbs. I start gaining weight after high school and entered into the 200's when I was around 20/21 years old. I got pregnant when I was 21 and I honeslty couldn't tell you how much I weighed but I think it was around 220 or so. I went through alot emotionally before meeting my fiance that made me gain weight which is why I rarely ever got on the scale and I stoped working our or caring about watching what I ate. Right before I had my son I weighed around 286 sadly and 2 weeks after having him via c-section I lost 20lbs and got down to 266lbs. Below is a picture of me holding my nephew when he was just born and me weighing 266lbs (my son was then 3 months old)...
When my sister sent me this picture I cried and cried forever it seemed. I coud not belive I let myself get this bad and big!!! I knew something had to be done! I went to my primary doctor and asked if she could prescribe me some diet pills. Yes I know, pathetic but I was depserate for an easy, quick fix! Well that was not the case. She wanted me to lose 10lbs first then come back and she would prescribe them to me but she also wanted me to cut out ALL carbs which I could not and would not do. As I was driving back to work after that visit I was going over different options in my head and called my mom to talk about what I could do. She reminded me that my aunt had been following Weight Watchers for 2 years as my mom also did years before and lost 80lbs, and was going to the meetings every Thursday. After work I called my aunt and told her I would meet her there this Thursday to "give it a try." I went, weighed in at 266lbs, sat through the meeting and was feeling good about everything and ready to give it a shot. The following morning I stopped by McDonald's to grab breakfast telling myself "you can't lose weight so don't even bother, just get your normal breakfast and move on." and I did BUT I counted the points and followed the plan faithfully that first week and you know what, I LOST 6lbs!!!!!!! I was in shock!!! I stepped on that scale in front of my leader saying I probably lost nothing and she said YOU LOST!!! From then on I was hooked!! WW helped me lose 75lbs. I had some obstacles along the way and ups and downs but everyone does.
From writing this, all I am trying to say is that it can be done and it is possible!! I am no longer following WW due to financial reasons but now I am on MFP and I have met so many wonderful new friends and you all are such a great support system for me to keep on going!! I am down to 84.1lbs lost with 31.9lbs to go!! My goal is to get down to 150lbs which is a healthy weight for me
