Calling on cyclists for training advice

When training for a big ride, do you focus just on cycling or do you cross train?

I am doing the MS 150 ride the first weekend of October (it's a two day event, 75 miles each day.) For me, it will be a HUGE challenge! I last did it three years ago, but am 15-25lb heavier now (and of course 3 years older!) I am trying to get my weight down and usually spin at least three times a week for an hour with heavy resistance; there are a lot of hills on the ride and no hills outside where I live. It has stormed every day I've been off work, so there's really been no oppotunity for outside cycling, but hopefully that will change very soon. I still have about 60lbs to lose until I hit my goal. In addition to the spinning, I usually do strength training twice a week.

Should I focus on spinning/cycling until the event, or should I do other cardio/strength as well? Should I be doing some form of cycling every day? I definitely need to continue trying to get my weight down.
Thanks in advance- I really need help :)

If you have a Kurt Kinetic trainer that may work better.....then pop in some DVD's of cycling tours, when they shift uphill....you shift. Also, look at your bike....sounds like you may need a little extra help, have the local bike shop put in a "compact crank"...will help on the hills.

As for the weight...diet is 90% of the battle...
