Ive been on this site 3 months now and have lost only 6 lbs. I added consistant exercise at a gym 5 days a week about 4 weeks ago and still the scale doesn't budge!! Arrrrrggggghhhh! I drink plenty of water daily and rarely eat back my calories...any suggestion will be appreciated!

Open your diary so the correct advice or direction can be given. Also if you are eating below 1200 calories that could be the culprit.0

If you are a bit older, it is way harder to lose weight.
Maybe you should eat more (healthy stuff) and see if that helps. Upping cals seem to work for a lot of people who are stuck on a plateau.
You could also try and ask your doctor if he can send you to a dietician for tailored advice.
In the meantime, here's something that might cheer you up:

Could it be you are not eating enough given that if you finalise for the day and have not eaten all your calories you get this message - *Based on your total calories consumed for today, you are eating too few calories. Not only is it difficult to receive adequate nutrition at these calorie levels, but you could also be putting your body into starvation mode. Starvation mode lowers your metabolism and makes weight loss more difficult. We suggest increasing your calorie consumption to 1,200 calories per day minimum.
I am on 1200 which I have been doing for 4 weeks and have lost weight. I am finding it really easy, much better than any diet I have tried and I usually give up after a week.0 -
I agree with the statement about 1200 calories. I too had been stuck for along time and recently made a big effort to lower my carb intake. Not no carbs, just lower. About 150 a day, and magically the scale started to move...0

Up your water. I see that you are not consuming enough. Check out my diary :-) you need minimum of 8 glasses a day. But, it is recommended that you drink half your weight in ounces daily. Breakfast you need a good rounded breakfast!!!0

Thanks.. I am older, 62 and think my metabolism died years ago! Lol I do eat at least 1200 calories or more each day. I made my diary public.. There are times I socialize during the week so for instance fish and chips and a margarita last night!0

disregard this OMG it posted under the totally wrong person....grrrr not the first time it jumped.....CHEERS!!!0

And don't forget measurements and photos! The scale barely moved my first several weeks (actually went up due to starvation mode), and measurements are what kept me going. Now the scale seems to be realizing that this is for real and is moving a bit. Don't quit now, it'll make next time you want to loose that much harder. Throw away the scale if you need to.0

Hi Marie!
I feel for you and have experienced similar results - I found that once I hit 40 it is more and more difficult to lose weight that used to come off with minimal effort once I put my mind to it. Here are just a few things that I find work for me when I get a stubborn scale....
Check the amount of sodium you consume-it is a deadly saboteur to anyone's eating plan
Are too many of your carbs refined? Try consuming carbs coming more from whole grains and vegetables...if you really want to help yourself out...cut back (not cut out) your carbs for a couple weeks and increase your protein to reset your metabolism.
I cut back on fruits if the scale is not moving...and switch to apples and pears instead of perhaps bananas and oranges.
If you normally do one half hour of exercise a day - try dividing it up a bit...15 minutes in the morning, 15 min in the evening.
When I was in WW, I found that when I ate all my points...I would lose weight that week but when I didn't, it was like my body went into starvation mode and I would gain weight.
I am no nutritionist or trainer-I do not claim to be a professional of any sort except I'm a pretty good graphics designer-LOL! I am only sharing what has been my experience...I have more suggestions and am a pretty good cheerleader if you'd like to add me...then maybe you can share more of your routine with me and we can figure it out together
I wish you the best on this journey, nonetheless!0 -
I just looked at wednesday's intake and in my opinion : way over board on the sodium intake and the diet isn't balanced well.
You need protein, fruits and veggies then carbs (as in starches)
But, 6lbs IS 6lbs! so don't fret just keep working at it, you CAN do it!0 -
That might have to do with being stuck. You don't think those things are so bad but they really do matter. And I agree that taking weight off in your 60's is way harder than it used to be. Try eating healthier filling foods so you are not tempted to have the fried fish and chips when you go out.0

I never get stuck but as soon as I tried to lower my carbs to 40% and ALWAYS SUCCEEDED in keeping them below 50% the weight started coming off much faster and it became hard to actually hit the 1300 plus calories net I was looking for.
If you are older and a bit heavier or if you've spent a lot of time eating high glycemic foods, lower (not low) carbs are relatively more important to your weight loss.0 -
Make sure you weigh everything you eat... and I underestimate my calorie burn and over estimate my food intake when I cannot weigh it..... I have been shedding about one pound per week fairly consistently on 1200 calories...I only eat back part of my exercise calories as well.0
