Feeling a bit low...

Feeling a bit low. Jumped on the scale this morning to sneak a peek at my weight before my official weigh-in tomorrow. I’m up a few pounds from when I weighed myself earlier this week.
I’m just ending my TOM, so I’m hoping it’s water gain from that. Of course I’ve been eating more due to TOM as well. But I thought I made smarter choices to satisfy the chocolate cravings (Fiber One brownies and ½ fat ice cream or frozen yogurt).
My husband and I just started the 30 day shred on Monday. That’s all the exercise we did that day. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I walked on the treadmill as well as doing the video.
Since I was down a couple more pounds earlier this week, I was so excited about weigh in day on Friday. No, not so much.

Hang in there and don't get discouraged...I usually don't even weigh myself during my TOM week...but I do keep on track with my diet and exercise, I know that I'll be bloated so I don't want to discourage my self by seeing that inflated number....

Just keep going! That number on the scale isn't everything! think about what is happening to your body on the inside! The cells are all rearranging themselves, learning how to work with better food, having to supply the body with energy.....the list is long! Losing weight is never easy, but I think the hardest part might be the mental challenge of it all. So stay positive! Although it feels like it, we didn't get big overnight and we aren't going to lose it overnight!0

Thanks folks...probably just some leftover PMS angst!0

Don't forget- if you gain muscle, that adds to weight. Muscle weighs more than fat. Give it time, and the muscles you gain will help you burn off the fat better. And don't give up! Everyone has set backs. Including me. Just smile, breathe, relax, and keep going. You CAN do it! Much luck!0

I'd definitely be blaming your TOM. I try to avoid the scales for that entire week because even thought I KNOW why it will be more it's so discouraging. I bet it will be gone and more on top if you weigh yourself in another few days!0

Don't give up..........I have hit so many of those walls along my journey but muscle through it and know your body is reacting to a pretty big change.....give it some time and it will do what you want it to do0

Again, don't take your weight or how you think you look as a method of measuring your progress too seriously. Firstly, your weight can be influenced in a snapshot by many factors. Second, how you think you look is very subjective and is heavily influenced by your own perception of yourself.
A much better way would be to set yourself mini-goals. Things you couldn't do/can't do, and attempt to achieve them. Something that is measurable - like how much you can lift, how many reps at X weight you can do, how far/fast you can run/walk, etc.
These kind of goals are completely objective-orientated and are things you are in direct control of, and it ensures that you don't get discouraged.
Also, if you feel like you're getting discouraged - Get some post-its. On one side of your fridge, put the negative experiences you have had since you started exercising on. Next to it, put the positive experiences/successes you have experienced since you started on. Don't forget to measure every success. A PB in lifting? Doing a session when you really didn't want to? Hitting your calorie goal? These all count.
Watch the positives stack up vs the negatives for some reinforcement of how much good it's doing for you.
And whenever you feel a little low, go look at your fridge to read all those positives to remind you how far you've come!0 -
Sometimes, especially if you're feeling a bit low, I think it's best to avoid the scale anyway and just go by how you feel, how your clothes feel etc. The scale is evil sometimes and doesn't show improvements and adds to the feeling low. Sod the scales....hide them, weigh yourself maybe once a month. You will be able to tell if you're losing by how you look, how you feel and how your clothes fit. Keep smiling, life's too short not to xxxx0

Oh - and if you want to smile...
Here's a good one.
Find a full length mirror. Stand in front of it either naked, or in your underwear.
Look at yourself and try your best to keep a straight face whilst you say:
"I would definitely **** me"
Watch as you can't help but smile/laugh whilst you say it.
Practice this every day. Eventually, you'll be able to look in the mirror, say it, and be totally confident when you say it.0
