Yes, you probably weren't eating enough before.

thanks! this has been confusing to me because it says that i burn only about 1500 cal a day before exercise. i have very muscular legs and have been lifting weights for a couple of years now so i think it has to be wrong if i only go by my weight.Yes, you probably weren't eating enough before.

Does it say that you only burn 1500 a day before exercise or that your BMR is 1500? Because that's 2 different things. TDEE is BMR plus any and all other calorie burns - so every time you wash the dishes, walk to the mailbox, fold the laundry is adding to your BMR. BMR is only the amount of calories your body needs to function - to keep your organs going. You would burn this number of calories lying in a coma.
For example - my BMR is about 1600 (and yes, it just goes by weight....I have muscular legs too....that doesn't matter). My TDEE is 2800 (average). So, my calorie goal is set to 2100 (but I don't mind eating a little over).
Hope that helps!0
