Hungry 24/7. Help!

My daily calorie intake goal is 1400. I've been striving for this every day for 3 weeks and I ALWAYS go over! I'm hungry all the time. I also exercise for about an hour 5 days a week. I have a cheat meal once a week, thinking that would keep me away from all the crap I use to eat all week. I snack every few hours-cheese, veggies, fruit, even some of those 100 calorie snacks. I still feel hungry! I drink water all day, too. I tried planning out what I would eat for the next day the day before but it's never enough! I'm still always hungry. So, I eat and go over my calories.
I also suffered from binge eating disorder for most of my life. Anyone else suffer from it? How did you overcome it?
I'm so sad. I don't know what else to do. I like exercising now, I totally enjoy it. But I just can't stop eating! And I really want to lose weight. I know people just decide to drop the whole losing weight thing and go back to eating crap-I don't want to! I like going for walks and to the gym. I just love to eat too.
Any advice?
I'm all over the place in this post! Sorry!

Your diary is closed, hard to help without knowing what it is you are currently eating.

I paint my nails. A lot! It helps at night when I know I've been healthy and active all day and don't want to mess it all up! Also...hobbies! Keeping busy is the trick for me. Crocheting, outdoor activities, reading... As long as you are eating enough and getting all of your nutrients, just try to find ways to stay busy!

Have you lost the 7lbs in the three weeks you have been doing this?

Do you mind if I ask, is this constant wanting to eat part of the binge eating disorder you mentioned?

With the amount of exercise you do you are probably not eating enough. check out this link and then listen to your body - it knows.
You can eat more and loose weigh you just need to be between you BMR and your TDEE.
Once you know these numbers you will have a better idea where you should have your target set at.

For me, you need to: Stop, Challenge, and Choose. This is the trick I use...

When I find myself reaching for something, I STOP

I then Challenge myself, am I really Hungry, or is it Thirst, or Boardom, or Habit that is making me reach for the food.. I also think about when the last thing was that I put in my mouth. I needed to make an effort to actually make meals in the day and not just eat all day. (The exception is after my lifting, I do have a post work-out meal, and a morning snack, and a pre walk meal before lunch to give me enough energy to make it through the morning).

Once I stop and Challenge, I then choose if I should eat or not.

You need to break the Boardom, Stress, Emotional, and habitual eating, and learn to eat only when hungry.

Not easy to do, but being a compulsive over eater, I know the challenge.

    Good Luck!
  • Thanks for the help. I'm off to Zumba do this won't be long-yes, I've lost the 7 lbs in about a month now. I figured it's all water weight as all my clothes fit the same and I haven't noticed a difference.
I'd like to take on more hobbies but I just don't have time between work, exercise and planning a wedding.
The constant feeling of hunger I believe has to do with the binge eating disorder. I don't know how to shake it.

How about having healthy snacks to hand so when you want to eat something its there ready. I have some water melon in the freezer cut into nice sized chunks that you can nibble at. So if I am thirsty or need something, its there handy.

Your 7lb in a month is a good loss, I am sure you will start noticing the diffence with your clothes shortly. Not meaning to sound funny but sometimes we don't notice that our clothes are feeling a little tighter than they should so the difference won't show as soon as we would like it to.

Dont stress about doing everything all at once, it sounds to me as tho you are doing the right things already.

Hope you are having a good day!

OP what is your current weight and height? You can properly eat more and still continue losing. I'm 215lb and am eating 1690 calories a day and am still losing.
