This is a great link... http://www.cheatyourwaythin.com/
1. feast on protein
2. do not drink your calories
3. pour yourself a big glass of water, drink it down, and wait 15 minutes before eating anything.
Mingle with the crowd, say hello, etc.
4. bring something (that you made and is healthy)
5. Eat a BIG, healthy meal just prior to heading to the party.
anyway, those are some tips... good luck.0 -
Only eat things that you don't have all year long (skip mashed potatoes, go for stuffing, skip corn, go for turnip)
If you make your plate, check out the foods first, and then pick only those items you REALLLY want and can't have all year
If somone else makes your plate, look at it and decide which items you can skip0 -
thanksgiving tips; eat the turkey (protein), 1 cup of either the mash potatoes or stuffing (no gravy), 1 cup of veggies, wait 2 hours to have your dessert (watch portion size) as a snack or bring a dessert you can have. Get everyone to join in for a walk after meal. And most important have a fun and enjoy your Happy Holiday0

Great tips so far!
-Also, get in a morning workout to earn a few extra calories before the eating begins.
-Put down your fork between each bite to slow yourself down while you eat, so you'll notice when you feel full.
-Only eat the things you WANT, not the things people expect you to eat or the things that are just out -- like don't eat half a bowl of peanuts because they're out while the food is being cooked, save your calories for the Thanksgiving dish you just can't live without.
-Enjoy yourself and don't stress out about the food aspect.
-Even if you ignore all of the tips, and go all out and eat until you can't even sit up, remember that it's Thanksgiving DAY, and not Thanksgiving WEEK. One day is'nt going to ruin your entire journey, but a week of too much rich food can cancel out a lot of the hard work you've put in.

since i am cooking i am making some of the same things but healthy style, eg sweet potato casserole, i will keep some plain for me on the side; green bean casserole, keep some green beans prior to adding the goodies; i can eat the turkey; i am going to make a small amount of stuffing for myself with ezekial bread/onions/sage/celery, ls chicken broth, apples. if your plate is full with good things you wont feel deprived and less likely to eat the high calorie choices.0

Don't do anything different than what you usually do to lose weight. Think about it... just because it is the holidays doesn't mean you have to eat more calories. Just think of it as a way to have more choices for you diet! Don't let the holidays be an excuse. Weightloss is a lifestyle change and that includes holidays! You can do it!!0

i try to pick out the healthier items to eat plus items that i wouldn't have during the year - also when i make my plate i spread out the food so it doesn't touch - that way less food is on the plate but it still looks full - if that makes sense0

Such great tips!!!
Personally, I eat any food I want!!! My caveat -- I only eat a spoonful or a small slice of the decadant stuff.
I still get to eat it, I still get to taste it and savor it, but I refuse to pig out on it. I don't feel deprived, but I limit the excess calories.
And drink water with the meal. :flowerforyou:0
