Eat to Live

Anybody following Dr. Furhman's Eat to Live progam? I just picked up the books and am researching into this plan. It seems like it is pretty radical and just wondering if anyone on these boards has had success with it.

I've read it. I'm not *following* it, but there is good info in his plan!0

What's it about?0

I haven't read the entire book yet - just skimmed it but the general concept is eating high nutrient foods only. The most radical part of it so far that I've seen is the avoidance of animal products including milk. It is not a vegan diet you can incorporate animal products, eggs, fat free milk, fish, lean meats but it encourages you to keep that to about 12oz a week.
I actually picked it up because of his position that the most prevelant diseases in the US (heart disease, diabeties, cancer) are linked to our diet -which I do believe. My mother had a quadruple bypass not to long ago and she is 5'2" 110 lbs, nonsmoker and what I would consider a traditional food pyramid eater. So now that I'm in my 40s I'm trying to figure out how not to get heart disease.0 -
Wow - that sounds like a pretty good read then.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she's okay now? :flowerforyou:
So basically it encourages about 4 servings of animal products per week, loads of produce.. what does the book say about grains and soy and all that good controversial stuff?0 -
Mind you I'm still not through the entire book - but I am understanding why he wants you to read the entire thing before you start. As far as grains go - the only controversial thing I've seen is he really wants you to limit grains to no more than 1 cup per day. That includes your good grains (brown rice, whole wheat, oats, barley etc.) I will keep checking in as I move through the book.0
