Needing to vent

There's really no where else for me to post this. The people in my social media circles don't really care and the few friends I have are always overly optimistic. While my eating habits aren't perfect, I'm eating about 80% better than I was a month ago. I've also been getting at least 30 minutes of activity on a regular basis for about a month, after several months of next to nothing.
Considering how overweight I am (about 30 pounds away from my goal), I expected to see some change. But there hasn't been any change, and it's starting to drive me crazy. 90% of my wardrobe is now unwearable and I have to keep wearing the same 6 dresses over and over because that's all I have that fits me. I hate all pictures of myself and I'm embarrassed to be seen by everyone, including my husband even though he's incredibly supportive.
I'm not looking for tips on eating and exercise, since I've heard every imaginable tip already and I've been using a different method than MFP for tracking recently. But if anyone has any advice for my emotional state, I'd appreciate it.

Just keep at it. It will take time. When you say 30 minutes of activity on a regular basis for a month what does that mean? 5 days a week? Everyday? What are you eating. Losing weight is like saving money. Calories in. Vs Calories out.
We are all here for you when you need to vent.

I can't see your dairy so can't comment about how much food or exercise you have it set at - so this is just general comments - I think what you are saying is that you have been at this about a month and haven't lost any weight and that you aren't using mfp to log your calories and that your exercise is 30 mins every now and then? - I think I am reading that right?
I would suggest you may want to shake it up a bit and think about how you are approaching it - a month in with no change could mean that the food choices you are making are not quite right? for me the exercise is what motivates me and helps me tone and lose the inches and makes me want to push myself further but they say it is 70% what you are eating, so I would start there
so no tips at first - just get the basics right (calorie counting and being aware of what you are eating - then improve it as much as you can) and then keep at it.0 -
Stop. Breathe. Relax... Stress isn't doing you any favors
Congratulate yourself for your successes so far and take a moment to recognize at how far you have come. Look at all of the healthy changes you are making! This isn't a race. As badly as we may want to see immediate results... Just remember, these are lifestyle changes. There will be plateau's and downfalls and just as many successes and milestones as long as you KEEP GOING.
It sucks when people aren't very supportive around you... Honestly, that's 100% of the reason I am addicted to MFP. That support network is so crucial.
I recommend you go out for a pedicure or go out on a movie-date with the hubby. Take time to step back and enjoy life. This is a journey, but one that does not have to be miserable.0 -
Lots of things work for different people... some like to kick themselves in the butt and note down all the things they dislike about themselves, vow to change it... place it somewhere they'll see it every day, and so on.
Others like to note positive things, or bounce off compliments, or other positive reinforcement.
Above all, I think, the important thing to note is that a) you're headed in the right direction, provided you're not gaining weight. Speed is irrelevant. Tell yourself you WILL get there. And b) as you duly noted, this is an emotional state. A fake-it-'til-you-make-it approach might benefit you. We've all seen plenty of people battle through depressive states and mindsets to become the person they've always dreamed... sometimes better.
Even a temporary catharsis can get you up and running, swimming, lifting, etc. just make sure it's recurring. Once you start seeing changes, the motivation comes easier, the habit kicks in and there's little room to stagnate.0 -
Go outside and take in a huge deep breath of fresh air and tell yourself you're lucky to be alive with no other ailments or a life threatening illness and that losing weight can be done. Be glad you're doing something with your life and eating good most of the time and that at least you have 6 dresses to wear that fit even if the days in a week go to 7, just wear pants one day lol. I mean it is what it is and you just have to try and make things work with what you have available to you. Seriously, there are far worse things that you could be experiencing right now and just because you haven't lost any weight doesn't mean you need to get all emotional or discouraged. How about patting yourself on the back for accomplishing all the good things you've done so far? Look at the positive and screw the negative. The more energy you focus on the might of been could of been's the more that becomes your life. You know what you've got to do to get the weight off and if it doesn't happen in a month so be it. Just know that it will come off and a that a few months from now you'll probably be smiling wondering why you got yourself so worked up about it. Life is too short to freak out over fat. I hate to say it like that about it. But weight is really only a temporary thing and can be fixed in time like most other things. How long would it take you to get a degree in college? 2, maybe 4 or more years. Things just take time. *kitten* I tried to lose 5 pounds a year ago and I swear to God it took like a year lol and I bust my *kitten*. Some people just don't lose weight as fast as others but you shouldn't beat yourself up over it. Do you do Insanity? I'm serious when I tell people to buy that program. It not only works on your body it works on your mind! Pushing you to the extreme and taking you outside of yourself. Insanity was the best thing I have ever done for myself physically and mentally.
