I know that dieting can be challenging, especially during the holidays, and Thanksgiving can be super tough! With all of the breads, sweets, and savory dishes, it's no wonder why people gain if they are not careful. This can be avoided, and you can still enjoy a great meal!
Our Thanksgiving Menu:
-Turkey (baked)
-rice stuffing (organic brown rice w/ chopped gizzards, bell peppers, onions, zucchini, baby portabellas, yellow squash, garlic, parsley, drizzled w/ e.v.o.o.)
-steamed carrots (seasoned w/ parsley, pepper & no sodium salt)
-mashed sweet potatoes (made only with fat free milk & seasonings)
-asparagus & baby portabella mushrooms (baked, drizzled w/ e.v.o.o. & garlic)
-collard greens (made by my hubby, southern style...unhealthy, but I won't be having any)
-homemade dressing (also made by my hubby & made from scratch: corn meal, chopped fat free croutons, fat free & low-sodium chicken broth, chopped turkey meat)
-cranberry sauce (fat free, but won't have more than two slices due to sugar content)
-sweet potato pie (fat free pie filling, fat free evaporated milk, & pre-made pie crust)
-pumpkin pie (fat free pie filling, fat free evaporated milk & pre-made pie crust)
All additives used during the preparation will be low-sodium & low-fat. This will be my meal for the day and eaten around 4-5pm. I am limiting my carb portions to a half cup each, & I will eat the turkey meat w/o skin. The only non-diet item are the pie's crust, but even those are low in fat/calories compared to most I found while shopping!
Good luck with your meal selections & keep in mind that this one day is not worth ruining all of your hard work!!!
