There is a snack chip that is MEGA healthy for you and tastes totally SCRUMPTIOUS. I am IN LOVE with them. But, ... they cost a FORTUNE. I mean it. A teensy weensy bag is like $6 to $8. I know it cannot possibly cost that much to make because buying kale in large bulk bunches is dirt cheap. I buy it all the time and throw it in my smoothies or cook it up for bean dishes. So, I am In Search Of (ISO) a recipe to make these: http://rhythmsuperfoods.com/kale-chips-zesty-nacho BTW, have any of you tried them? They rock.

I found this recipe, but it is not raw like the original chips which are probably made in a dehydrator: http://bakingmehungry.com/2012/03/20/nacho-kale-chips/
Also, I eat gluten free and I'm really not sure whether or not nutritional yeast contains gluten. Do any of you know?

I found another recipe for cheesy curly kale chips... not exactly the same:

1 large bunch green curly kale***, washed, large stems removed, torn into bite size pieces

COATING:
1 cup cashews, (soaked 2 hours)
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
juice of 1 lemon
1 T. nutritional yeast
2 t. agave (opt.)
1/2 t. himalayan pink crystal salt

Put coating ingredients in Vitamix. Blend until smooth. Using your hands,(same as with Awesome Goddess Chips which are indeed AWESOME), spread coating on kale pieces getting it inside of curls. Put on teflex sheets and dehydrate at 105 overnight or until coating is dry. Slide onto mesh screens and dehydrate 12 hours, or until very crispy.

That seems like a long time to dry kale chips. The kale was very curly, and the coating very thick. The original poster of the recipe said the smell drove her husband crazy, he LOVED it!

***The kale should be firm and curls spikey. If kale is limp, wash it, cut an inch off the end of the stems and stand in a bowl of water for an hour.

Anyway... I want to make some.. I'm wondering if anyone on here has tried the Rhythym Foods' chips and has a good recipe to imitate them?

Good news... Trader Joe's now carries them under their own TJ brand... and they are a good $2 or $3 cheaper. Yum!

Dawn - yes - I found them about a week ago :):):) TJ's Kale chips are good :)

If you make my recipe, play around with the vinegar .... I made them again and noticed I may have underestimated the vinegar :)
