I don't think it would be weird at all, maybe for you but not them! Most people would be completely flattered to be asked what they do to get the body they have! I know it flatters me when people ask what I've done to lose weight, and when I get to my goal I would be ecstatic if someone asked me what I did to get a great body (hoping/assuming I will achieve a good body when I get there..lol) But that's about the best complement you can give someone, I would think.

  • I'm fortunate enough to be on the other end of that question now, daily, and it's pretty sweet. Some follow my lead, others do something opposite which makes no sense, and I know which ones are getting the body and the feeling of wellness they want.

My advice to yas is to simply ask those people what they did to get in such great shape. They will be flattered you asked believe me.

I agree with what others have said. While I am a ways from the body I want, I do get flattered when people ask me about what I've done to lose the weight I have lost.

And I know how much time and effort I've spent to get where I am. I would think someone with a great body would be very aware of all the work that they do to maintain it.

I would ask them. In fact there's a couple of guys at work I talk about excersise and nutrition with a lot. One of them is a runner who has run several marathons. The other guy lost 110 lbs three years ago and has kept it off. Every day we get together at some point and talk shop so to speak. There are a few times when they have motivated me when I thought about slacking off.
  • Definitely not weird! I've already done that several times! I'm always curious, especially when it comes to the girls who are around my height and are teeny-tiny things!

People ask me a lot and I am no where near skinny. I've had skinny people ask me what I do b/c they see the weight loss.

I would ask. Someone wisely stated, If you ask a question, you're only a fool for a minute. If you don't ask you're a fool for a lifetime.

i am in a boot camp, weight loss challenge at my gym and i have taken advantage of asking many people their tips/techniques. i have gotten a lot of good information. i think the biggest theme is that they believe diet is 80%, exercise is 20%. strict diet will get to your goal.

I can speak from experience, that I believe this to be true. I have been increasing my exercise lately, but unfortunately I've been eating more junk, too and the pounds are NOT coming off despite my much more strenuous workouts.

A while back I heard a saying that you cannot out excersise a bad diet. And it's true. I have always been pretty active. However, I didn't lose any weight until I changed my eating habits. If you use the excersise and food diary on this site the simple math will tell you that.

An example. I just ran 5K. If I drank 3 beers (and if you look at my pictures you can tell I've done some of that), that essentially just erased the calories I burned running.
