Competition

I just have a question for everyone? Does anyone feel like they are in competition with their friends about losing their weight? All my friends are losing weight and I get kind of envious of them sometimes because they lose it quicker than I do and brag about it on their facebook. I'm trying the best I can and I feel like I'm rushed or pressured into being the best I can be.

Does anyone else feel like this? Anyone have any advice for me about this? Please help!

nope, unfortunately for me all of my girlfriends are models, actresses, badass drummers or singers, fashion designers in their livingrooms or vegan animal rescuers. Im the only big one.

No, I haven't had to deal with that either. I was the only one out of my friends trying to lose weight when I started which is why I was thankful for MFP to get some support from people who understood what I was dealing with. This is YOUR weight loss, don't worry about what they're doing AT ALL!

Yoovie - If you're big, I need to go back to shopping at the elephant store... not that you need the affirmation, but we all think you're Mary Poppins (practically perfect in every way)

OP - apparently, I'm creating the stress for my group of friends in this situation - I started because I'm too vain to be both forty and fat, and some of the women were giving me grief about it... took a couple of weeks and "why don't we do this together" conversations to turn it around... competition isn't a bad thing in and of itself - it's all about how you internalize it.

  • I'm pretty much in competition with a girl who ruined my confidence to lose weight! I'm afraid to have her see me on the street and have her think "I'm STILL better looking than her"! I don't like it though. Losing weight faster doesn't make either of us a better person! I am however losing weight BECAUSE of competition. Every slutty girl in this town (i mean has-tried-it-on-with-my-boyfriend-slutty) seems to be a model or have pictures of themselves practically naked on facebook. Also my family notice every pound lost/gained so there's no time for me to gain anymore weight. I feel pressure to lose weight, if that makes sense?

Oh I am totally losing weight because of competition!

I have a weight lifting competition, and I really want to fit into the 198 weight class but I'm a little over 200 right now. I feel the pressure from competition date but that fuels my work outs and actions. I drive past a McDonald's and think I do love burgers and then I remember I also love to win! Suck it McDonald's!

All that aside who cares if someone loses weight faster than another, they might be winning the sprint but you can still win the marathon. People who drop "15 pounds in 2 weeks!" soon give up after those two weeks because they are weak maggots with no real self control. Are you a weakling OP, you better not be, you better be a freaking robot octopus shark bear! Eat Shred Destroy!

My biggest competition is myself. Let me tell you, she is fierce.

Don't listen to the noise. It's only going to slow you down.
