Too Much Protein??

Is it bad to go over the suggested amount of protein? I almost double it every day, but do not go over on my calories and am always under on my fat count. I am hypoglycemic and have always been taught the more protein the better... but just curious.

you can change the settings for totals, mine is 40% carbs. 40% rpotein, 20% fat. i like this plan and feel good and am losing and gaining muscle.0

Short answer...no.
Too much protein is not a problem for the vast majority of people. There are some reports floating around the web that indicate too much protein can cause kidney and/or liver damage, but there is no credible research to support this.
And on the other hand. There is a ton of data that supports high protein diets particularly in athletes.
Typical protein needs for a moderately active person (exercise 3-4 times/wk) are 0.45 - 0.68 g/lb.
If you are very active (exercise 5-7 times/wk) then increase to 0.68 - 0.81 g/lb.0 -
I have also adjusted my carb/protein/fat to 40/40/20. No harm done, still losing fat and building muscle and toning body parts :bigsmile:0

I worked out tonight and even though I was well over my protein for the day, I went and ate something with even more protein afterwards to help with the muscle-building process. I'm a fan of Chicken which causes me to often go over my protein and I feel better than ever. No worries IMO.0
