Very Slow and Steady!

Hi all!

I just want to start off by saying that I've been reading posts around here for a while but haven't posted at all. I think this is a very supportive community...it's really nice to see these days.

I started with MFP a few months ago and then I had a flare up of my Ulcerative Colitis. Please don't take this as me making excuses, but when you are on prednisone (steroids) for a significant period of time you gain weight. It sucks I'm not going to lie. It's unfortunately been a recurring theme for me. I flare, I go on prednisone, I can only eat white rice and boiled chicken, I gain 20 or so pounds, I recover. It's a viscous cycle that's been happening since I was diagnosed in 2006. I'm about 100 lbs overweight, and I'm really ashamed that I let things get this far out of control.

I just want people here to tell me that the SLOW progress is ok and I'm not doing something wrong. I started back up here in June at about 260 lbs. I am now at 249, but honestly, I really started working out and being "good" about a month and a half ago.

Thoughts? Thanks all.

Rosanne

  • Oh sweetheart its your journey and nobody elses, you need to do it all at your own pace and if that means a pound a week then thats what you do.

Your moving in the right direction so who cares if it takes 6 month or if it tskes 3 years.c

Slow and steady is actually best in my opinion, more likely to make the lifestyle changes necessary to keep weight off. You are doing well.

Thanks all. (Again, not to make excuses) I have some limitations to how much "dieting" I can do. For example, I could never eat a salad as a meal, or part of a meal. I can't have raw veggies like that because of my colitis. I figure slow and steady is the way to go - but I'm afraid if I do get pregnant in the next few years that I will never lose the weight.

    Thanks for all the support.
  • I would never WANT to eat salad as a main meal - I want slme yummy in my tummy
    !!

Just take it at your own pace hun, dont worry about what everybody else is doing.x
