While I agree this is a great movie, I would wait on this one. It might be okay for the 16 year olds (if they have seen rated R movies before and you are comfortable with showing them sexual content), but it's definitely NOT okay for a 11 year old. I didn't see Election until I was 16 or 17 I believe.
Oh it is? Woops. Sorry about that. I had tried to only mention ones that are PG-13 or below. Guess since it came out when I was 18, I didn't notice. But that's why I left off American Beauty, Fight Club, and The Matrix (they all came out in 1999, but are rated R).

Edit: Looks like Born in East L.A. is also rated R, due to language. I guess I first saw it on TV and that was all bleeped out, cause I remember watching it as a kid. Also Stand By Me, The English Patient, and Good Will Hunting are rated R. So I guess those are all out.

Wow so many great ones on this thread! it's bringing back lots of memories. my favorites (& my brother's) were always the scary ones though: nightmare on elm street, friday the 13th, IT (previously mentioned), child's play. but as far as not-scary i'd have to go with the Labyrinth overall!!!
  • My favorite from the 80's is definitely 16 Candles!

Definately The Breakfast Club, but (and I think it might actually be a very early 2000's) my fave is 10 Things I Hate About You. Such a great movie!
