Blood Donation

I have heard in the past that giving blood is good for your body.
Does anyone know how many calories it uses up?

I don't think it uses up calories. I've donated blood regularly since I was 20, and it never affected my weight. I wish it did, because in almost 32 years I've donated at least 8 gallons!

Donating blood is good for you but not because it burns calories. It gets rid of any excess iron in the blood which can cause heart problems. You do lose about a pound when you donate but it is very temporary. You gain it back when your body replenishes the lost blood, which starts immediately after donation.

I wanted to say thank you to all the blood donors. In January, I lost a significant amount of blood due to my crohn's disease and had to be given two units of blood. I am grateful to donors for making sure I was able to get better.
