Sleep & Cardio exercise - help.

I CAN'T fall asleep until 5 or more hours after an intense workout. I've finally started working out (YAY!) after work 4 x a week. But then I end up lying in bed til 1am unable to fall asleep. Last night I used breathing techniques to fall asleep a little faster but instead woke up all through the night and didn't feel rested.
I really, really don't want to have to get up at 5:45am to exercise so all suggestions/thoughts are welcome. Thank you

The usual recommendation is to finish exercise 2-3 hours before sleep time.
Obviously you're going to have to finish earlier because we're all unique individuals. I can't think of a different solution than to finish exercising earlier. Sorry! :frown:0 -
So 2-3hours is the "normal" or average recoup time? I wonder now if it changes or diminishes as people get in better shape.0
