Welp, Jake learned his first lesson about women.... she didn't show up. Sigh. :brokenheart:

Poor boy! Did she have an excuse?

Her mom got busy. But they got together later in the day, so his tender 12 year old heart still beats intact. ;-)

My mom's first date was when she was 14 with a 19 year old! Her dad said to her date before they left, "Just because you buy her dinner doesn't mean you get anything out of her!" haha My mom was mortified! Her date ended up stick his tongue down her throat. It was my mom's first kiss too... Obviously, my grandpa has good judgment...

Years ago, I did the whispered "Do you need a condom?" question to my son when he got asked out to a movie date at 14. He looked at me and asked "What for?" and the frightening part is... I think he was serious!

My daughter is 18 years old and gorgeous. She always introduces the brave souls who ask her out to me. She gets a great kick out of reporting back later how intimidated they are when I mention to each young man how important it is that he be respectful to my daughter.

Frankly I'm more scared having 2 sons than I would be if I had 2 daughters.

My boys are 15 and 12. A few months ago a commercial for Cialis (erectile dysfunction drug) came on while the 12 yr old and I were watching TV. He asked "What's erectile dysfunction?" So I answered him. He responded "DUDE! That is messed up!!"

You'll have to trust me on this one but sons are much, much less scary than daughters. Perhaps it's because my son was born first but he's such an easy young man to deal with. I've never passed a sleepless night worrying about him. My daughter? Completely different story.

My teenage daughter had her boyfriend over and they were watching Netflix on our TV. She asked me what a good scary show was. Without missing a beat I said "16 and Pregnant scares the hell out of me."

    Hahaha..love this!

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Loved reading through this string!
When I was a teenager my dad flat out told me that his goal in life was to embarrass me! I think he was joking... kinda...
Anyway, mom ran interference because she didn't want me to completely shut them out of my life. But the threat still hung heavy in the air that if I ever got into trouble dad was going to drive me to school and walk me to class in his pajamas. The horror! lmao

I'm now dreading my 8 year old daughter dating because she is such a follower.
My 6 year old son is already known by most of the little girls at school. He is too cute and doesn't have a clue how charming he is, so as we walk through the halls for some school function or other, most of the little girls we pass are calling out to him to say hi and (thankfully) he is pretty obvlivious. I know that one day he will figure out what's going on, but for now I'm thrilled with the innocence!

I was the only girl out of kids, the other 3 boys of course. And my parents would embarrass me all the time. And on top of being the only girl( daddy's little girl) my dad was a cop. So he had eyes on me everywhere i went. and as soon as I got of age to date he would walk out the kitchen with his boxers, appron and yes cowboy boots, holding his gun. It was embarrassing. Also anytime we went to the store for girly shopping he would embarrass me so bad I wouldn't walk woth him. I love my dad even though he did those things. But hey thats what dads are for.

My 5 year old exchanged rocks with a little girl on the bus. I'm not sure what it means though ;)

My favorite quote...especially since having a daughter -

"Guns dont kill people, fathers with pretty daughters do"

I have this hanging at my desk at work!

I think I will make a sign like that for myself. I have 3 daughters and a son.

LMAO! this thread is hilarious!! and so on point that i actually have a little faith restored for the next gen!
my dad was always cleaning the 'uncles' when dates were brought home, with the pulled aside message (you know while i was in the bathroom checking hair before we left) that it wasn't him that the boy needed to worry about, but the uncle's, well they were a little less forgiving about wrong deeds against me!'
the funny thing is that as i got older i became a better shot than dad and he was only too proud to share that info, especially while cleaning my rifle since, you know, i was too busy getting ready for my date!
can't wait to see what hubby and i come up with for our girl! she's only 2. for now!

It could be worse. Mine is girl crazy since he was 5. He met his first "girlfriend" in kinder. I asked what they did, he says they walk in line together, hold hands, and sit by each other at lunch. I went to go pick him up about 2 months after they started "going out." The teacher said there was an incident. My son's girlfriend got angry with him and went and sat across the table by his best friend. My son walked over punched him in the face and walked out. When the teacher asked why he did that, he said "I don't wanna talk about it." They were together all year until she moved away the next year. I'm not looking forward to the teenage years at all!

LOL!!!! We have a little girl, and ever since she was born, we're determined to become members of NRA, and always be cleaning a gun if/when she ever decides to bring a boy home.... I feel so sorry for our daughter when she becomes of age to date LOL

My father used to do this! Love him to death. Now my own 11 y.o. step-daughter is in middle school. Someone made a comment the other day about her being so pretty and soon the boys would be hanging around. And her dad asked her, "and you know what that means, right?" And she said, "yeah, Dad buys more guns." She is such a cutie.

This is great reading...... Our youngest is a girl and she has 3 older brothers. Each will (as if they don't) have their own shot gun for such a time as we feel necessary. I kind of feel sorry for her already and she's only 4.

My oldest son, who is now a PhD candidate at MIT in cancer research, got in trouble in kindergarten for trying to kiss a girl. He's a chip off the ole block (girl wise, anyway).
