i love artichokes. i steam whole ones. in the water i put bay leaf, garlic, lemon. after cutting the top off the artichoke trimming the leaves and steam i rub lemon on the artichoke and steam for about 40 minutes. then i like to dip in mayo mixed with balsmic vinegar. you can also dip in lemon butter. super yummy i eat 2 for lunch. only 120 calories. the mayo kills though so i try to use hardly any dip.

So this guy has this wife and she is always on him about how he doesn't make enough money, nagging him nonstop, and then one day he loses his job. He decides on a solution to the situation: takes out an insurance policy on the wife and hires a hitman. This is perhaps not the best solution, but it does seem to solve his problem. In dealing with the hitman, a guy named Art, old Artie says he wants half the fee for the hit up front. The man says, no can do, I won't get the insurance money until after she's dead. So Art says, I need something before this hit. The man open his wallet and finds a single dollar bill. He says this is my last dollar until the insurance settlement. Artie takes the dollar. He trails the man's wife all day, and finally follows her into a supermarket. She finishes her shopping and for some reason seeks out a trash can behind the store. With no witnesses, Artie takes his chances and strangles her. Unfortunately a clerk was taking out some garbage at this time and found them. Not wanting to leave any witnesses, the hitman strangles the clerk also. Unfortunately for Art, because of recent vandalism, the store had recently installed cameras out back.

The headlines the next day of course read: "Artie chokes two for a dollar at Walmart!"

What? Not the kind of inspiration you were looking for?

Honestly my favorite way to eat artichokes is to just boil them with garlic in the water or steam them and scrape the meat off the leaves with my teeth after dipping it in a little butter or olive oil, and then when I get to the middle I just scrape out the chokey stuff and eat that with a little salt and pepper. Keepin' it simple. It's a great snack to share or to have as an appetizer too.
