Medications impeding weight loss (women)

Women do you ever feel like medications you take are stopping you from losings weight? My mother was on some cancer medications and they have kind of made it really hard for her to lose weight. what about other meditation like birth control or allergy pills. what did you do about meds during your weight lose journey?
