Weight loss plateau... Need advice!

So I've been officially dieting since March now. In the first 3 months I shed more or less 10kg, started off at 65-67 (inaccurate scales). Since reaching 56kg at my lowest in June I haven't been able to lose any more, over the past weeks it just goes up and down a kg when I make tweaks on exercise hours or food. I've made my diary public for anyone who wants to see, please focus on the last 2 weeks tho! I'm not exactly losing 'weight', more of trying to lose that belly. *sighs* Even ignoring scales and measuring myself I am the same. Am I eating right? Am I exercising too much? Not enough? I already tried not exercising and upping calories for a few weeks, then cutting back.

Notes:
- calorie counting is more accurate on weekdays. Weekend is my break but I try not to over-indulge on snackity foods. I also don't fuss about recording sauces because I know mum doesn't use a lot in her stir fry dishes.
- I've been doing DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) as my daily exercise ever since I started, the calorie burnt is not accurate! It is the number that resulted in online search and estimating calories burnt per song (20cal per song on difficult/expert? Don't even know of it's right). It was how I lose weight when I could not afford time (full time work + commuting ughh) and money to join a gym. I came home from work too late to go out for walks/jogs so I just dance at home after waiting a few hours after dinner for food to digest. It is still winter here so hard to muster up energy to go for morning walks/jogs, but I usually manage to squeeze those in 1-2 times a week.

You can try intermittent fasting to break your plateau. Most people do the 16 hour fast before they eat again or in other words, they eat only once a day but during that one meal they'll eat their calorie and protein requirement for the day.

I'd try dropping your carbs down. Maybe lowering calories. Sugar seems high too. I'd also say find something new to try excercise wise. I was able to break mine by trying a couple new things (strength training)

If you've been doing the same kind of exercise the whole time, your muscles can become accustomed to it, and you won't burn as many calories as when you first started it. I would suggest searching on youtube for some calisthenic type exercises that you can follow along with so that you can start using some different muscles. Some strength training would help also. Things like pushups and situps. It's tedious and boring, I know, but it could help you break through your plateau.

Try to replace some of the fats in your diet with better fats that come from things like nuts (almonds and walnuts, especially), avocados, seeds, olives, olive oil, etc. You seem to be getting plenty of protein, which will be good if you start with strength training; you'll need it. Also replace some of your grainy carbs with more fruits and vegetables; especially fruits. You haven't been eating a lot of those.

Hope that helps. Keep up the good work!
  • you should try switching up your diet and exercise routine!

To break I plateau, I drop my calories to 800 less than I need to maintain my weight and exercise a couple hours per day. I only do this for 3 days and it works for me. It should result in a 1 pound weight loss.
There are all kinds of exercises to do at home: crunches, situps, jumping jacks... there are a ton of exercises to do at home (google knows)

Thx for the replies guys! I think first off I'll try changing the quality of my calories, cos it's true I've been eating quite a few muesli bars and biscuits thinking it was ok since it was within my calorie limit lol.
I'll also add more fresh fruit and start eating the walnuts which have been sitting in my cupboard. I always have a supply on almonds but kept putting them off in favour of biscuits lol...
I'll find more variety of strength training exercises to do. Usually I alternate push ups or lunges after DDR, but I always do crunches (2 sets of 30).
