Scared to go shopping...

I know this may sound a little silly... But just wondering if there are any others in a similar situation!
I haven't really enjoyed going shopping or trying things on for close to 1.5 years now because I felt like everything I tried on made me look fat, or things wouldn't fit that in my mind "should".. And as a result I have very few clothes that I wear that fit me.
Since starting, I have lost around 7kg in 7 weeks and not sure exactly how much size, but a bit - I notice it in some tops I've been wearing.
HOWEVER. I have pretty much never worn jeans or pants over this time period as mainly embarrassed about my legs (instead I wear tights, dresses, skirts, etc.) but I'm going to Europe for Winter at the end of the year and need to stock up on jeans and pants soon.. I'd also like to wear jeans and pants again and feel good about myself.
But I'm scared to go shopping and try things on! I don't know if things will fit well! I took measurements about 2 weeks ago and a certain size should fit but I guess I'm just worried that I'll look fat in what I try on and it will be back to square one. My boyfriend is very supportive and lovely and always wants me to show him things when I try them on but I don't want to set out with a big shopping trip with him in mind if I'm just going to end up unhappy after the first shop! I have to fly to another city for a day by myself in approximately 2 months to organize a visa so I was thinking maybe I could try going shopping then...
i've had some problems over the past week or so and due to my lack of motivation I haven't been eating as well as I should or exercising quite as much, but still have been sticking to my calories and other than the last week (when someone in my family died and I spent a lot of time at the hospital) have been exercising almost every day. I've been trying to use the clothes thing as motivation but need to get back on track!
Any advice on the going shopping front? Or anyone been in a similar situation and can share how it went for them?

Just try to keep in mind that if the pants or jeans you try on aren't flattering, THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU. You just need a different cut or style or brand.
Shopping for jeans and pants is difficult for most women, honestly, no matter what size. Once you get a sense of what styles and brands are flattering on your body, it makes things much easier.0 -
Have you thought about thick/thermal leggings with dresses/tunics? That can be better for the confidence if you're worried about the hip/thigh area and should still be warm enough.
And jeans are a pain, no matter what size/shape you are! Try a few different styles on to get a measure of what might work.0 -
Take a friend who knows a little something about fit with you, or go shopping in a department store with a big selection where the sales girl can help you out. Having someone there who can find different, more flattering cuts for you as you try things on will save you some of the exhaustion and frustration. And try to have fun! Your body's changed for the better, you should get to enjoy that0

Do you plan on losing more weight before you leave? If so, DONT go overboard on buying a bunch of clothes now or they wont fit you when you are ready to go on vacation. Use this time to get your feet wet, so to speak, with shopping. And dont get discouraged if one kind of jean/pants doesnt look right. Every manufacturer is a little different...in cut AND sizes. Plan to visit several stores with different brands and don't worry.0
