Am I wrong to chuckle about this?

Yesterday I finished my fir 5k. It was actually a triathlon, but I ran as part of a team. It took everything I had to finish in 33 minutes without stopping. I plan to do the whole thing next year (planning to be 50 more pounds lighter). Well... It was an indoor pool, and the swim was last in order to create a stagger of people getting in the pool. (We didn't use timers.)

One of the last ladies to finish (there were only 38 of us), was walking in the pool shallow end instead of swimming. AND she was moving relatively fast.

So... Every time I think about this I just laugh, but not a vicious laugh. I think it's because I'm imagining what this woman had to be thinking, "I'm gonna finish this. I can do it. I came this far, God I'm tired. I can't kick with my legs. Just keep moving. I am NOT quitting. Just keep moving." She looked exhausted! THAT will be me next year!

Is that funny to you too? Or am I just warped?

I guess it depends on whether you were chuckling out of delighted surprise to see her refuse to give up,or whether you were laughing at her. I could definitely see "delighted surprise" chuckling, followed by a cheer!

I was so proud of her! I guess it was a happiness chuckle. Definitely not making fun of her - I was tickled at her determination - and surprised. This was the first triathlon I ever watched, so I had no idea how tired these people would be... and STILL GOING! Does it make you chuckle?

Thanks for replying! I feel better!
