Considering fitness videos ie PX90, Insanity, etc

Hubby and I will likely go on the road so I'm not comfortable plunking $ down for a gym membership that I won't be around to take advantage of. Not interested in joining a national chain as our travel will likely take us overseas. So I was thinking that in the interim it would be great idea to invest in one of these DVD series. All I would need is my laptop and some room and I'd be good to go in case there wouldn't be a gym hotel or the like.
I wanted to get opinions from people who have made the investment. Were you satisfied? Why or why not.

I am on week 11 of Jillian Michael's Body Revolution. This is a 90 day program with 15 DVD's. The days are set-up so that you work the front of your body, then the back of your body, then cardio, repeat this and then a rest day. Each workout is about 35 minutes long. The cost was around $150 and it also comes with a resistance cable. You would need weights. I use 3lb, 5lb. and 8lb. (she recommends these sizes). I love it because I have toned-up so much! I am way stronger. I have not actually lost a lot of weight, (I lost 30 before I started and have lost 5 in the last 11 weeks) but I have lost lots of inches and I can't believe my muscles! I was a size 8 when I started and now I am a size 4! My husband is currently doing Insanity. I think that is more cardio and less strength training. If you have lots of fat to burn (which it does not look like it from your picture) then I would say Insanity might be better. If you are looking to tone-up AND burn fat I would HIGHLY recommend Body Revolution.0

OMG, I love Insanity. I have not tried P90x, but I bet its good too. I also love Turbo Fire by Chalene Johnson! There are like 10 DVDs in the set for Insanity and a schedule to follow for 60 days (actually its 67 days but whose counting?) and so it mixes it up for you. It is incredible for strengthening the core and working on cardio health at the same time. Also a great fat burning program. Definitely satisfied with both programs! Love me some Turbo Fire too!!0

Love P90X, but being on the road constantly I couldn't make it work. If it was just cardio, no problem, but you'll need a set of dumbbells up to whatever weight that will push you both to muscle failure, not to mention a pull up bar. I don't see that as mobile option, but that's my opinion.0

I'd just find a no contract gym, there are a lot out there.
p90x requires a lot of tools to do it correctly, insanity isn't for someone who is super out of shape. I just want to punch jillian michaels in the face every time I hear her or see her..

P90X is an excellent program, but might be tricky if travelling. At the least you would need a good set of resistance bands which you could use to do modified versions of the pull ups and weight sets. If you follow the program it is 6 days a week with 1 rest day. Workout time runs between 60-90 minutes per day. Tony does a great job of showing modified versions of almost every move or set.
Insanity is basically pure cardio. No additional equipment is needed. Like P90X, it is 6 days a week with 1 rest day, but the workouts are a little shorter. Not too many options for modified versions other than going at your own pace, which they regularly remind you to do.
Both P90X and Insanity are very intense workouts. Hope this info is helpful.0 -

I just finished P90X, it was quite an experience! I got much stronger than I would have thought, plus I lost weight I had been carrying around for a few years. It was a shock to me because I run all the time, two marathons during the last couple years. My fiancé just finished TurboFire which I think is geared toward women. She loves it, it is a high intensity interval workout. She claims it feels like dancing lol. We both just finished week 1 of Insanity and really like it. It is pure cardio fat blasting lol. If you're looking for workouts you can use in a small area on a laptop, I def recommend these. But as I learned, diet is key!0

I agree with some of the others that P90X is more difficult on the raod, howver you can do about 90% of the exercises on P90X if you have one (or a few) of the rubber stretchy bands. That would get you pretty close to the same effect on a lot of the exercises.
I did Insanity last spring (Love it!). Hard. but so worth it. My husband started P90X this summer and I've been doing it with him off and on. I'm now doing a mix of P90X and insanity (since we have both of them).
What I found was the majore difference between them is that Insanity will really help you SLIM down. You'll get fit, but it's a slim fit. P90X will help you lose weight and inches, but you'll also gain muscle. It won't make you bulky and gross, but you'll get stronger. I like the mix of both programs. But that does get expensive

All of the comments have been super helpful, so I genuinely appreciate everyone's input.
A no contract gym membership isn't a possibility because as I stated, we'll likely be overseas and I have no idea how our travel schedule will be until we find out my husband's work.
Just to let y'all know I was formerly a competitive bodybuilder and fitness/swimwear model. So I've been mean and lean all the way to fairly well muscled. Now I'm just looking to get back to my swimwear model body. When I bought a tape measure today I was horrified at how thick my waist has become. But I did it all to myself so I'm not looking for sympathy. LOL And yes, diet IS KEY... you have to keep moving, yes but no way you're going to drop inches from the areas of your body where you carry most excess body fat by not thinking about what you put into your mouth. I am not concerned with the # on the scale because I know how much I will likely weigh when I get down to the body fat I want. I will likely be somewhere around 120# (which is about 10# less than I am right now, I think. I don't own a scale LOL). I am TOTALLY concerned with the tape measure (I nearly passed out when I bought one and took my measurements today!) and performance (how I feel).
To the lady who mentioned Jillian Michaels' workout DVD's... I genuinely appreciate your input and am so happy that you found a product that really worked for you! I hope you don't think we were beating up on you. I've never had a gym membership, and I hate big equipment. (treadmills, ellipticals, etc), I get so bored. I have p90x, insanity, Turbo Jam, 30 Day shred, plus a few other random workout videos. I prefer to do these videos or go walk/jog on my local greenway than anything else. I have had a lot of great success with Turbo Jam, and the 30 Day Shred, those are the only 2 I finished. Currently, I'm doing the c25k and Insanity on days I can't make it outside. P.S. dont let my ticker fool you, Ive gained and lost the same 30lbs over and over always from working out at home.0

Thanks to everyone who replied. I've taken all posts under advisement. I'm still not 100% sure what I'll do as our living situation is up in the air. But I'll be making a short term decision in the next few days. In the meantime I am just continuing to alternate speed-walking with hill-climbing and mountain hiking (lotta beautiful places to hike in "the natural state" and doing cross-fit style work-outs in the park on the calisthenic stations provided. So the only cost to me is the gas I have to expend driving to a National State Park with an extremely challenging hiking trail. :glasses: Proof positive that staying fit doesn't HAVE TO cost anyone an arm and a leg. You just needa do it!0
