NEW ROUND! FitBit vs HRM vs both?

I've already searched for this topic, and I know there are a few threads - but they're all too old for me to feel comfortable with bumping them, so I thought I'd rather make a new topic.
Do you prefer the FitBit on its own, an HRM on its own, or both?
I don't have either at the moment - but my Polar FT4 will arrive on Tuesday, and I'm planning on getting the FitBit when I'm able to be more active (I just got off bed-rest, so I only walk a couple of walks a day, and am otherwise sedentary) - I just think it'd be a waste to get a FitBit when I know I won't be walking a lot just yet, and walking is what the FitBit is mainly made for. Furthermore, I believe an HRM is more accurate.
What about you guys?

I don't have a HRM but I received a FitBit as a gift. I LOVE it, it makes me realize how active I really am in day to day life, and allows me to not feel so bad when I'm more hungry than usual and go over my calories. It accounts for all your daily movement and sends the information to MFP and ups your calories when you're more active. I'd like to get a HRM in the future, but for now I am content with my FitBit.0

I have a fitbit and i love it, but ive been wanting a heart rate monitor as well, for the stuff fitbit doesnt do as well like aerobics, ect. I just havent decided which to get.0

I can't wait to get a FitBit either.
I just decided to get the HRM first, because I'm not able to be very active just yet, and I think I would just find it frustrating to know I've only walked so-and-so many steps during the day when you're supposed to walk 10.000. The amount of calories burnt is the most important feature for me right now, and I'd like to know just how much I push myself and what I get out of it, so for now, an HRM is fine.
But when I'm able to be more physically active, I think the FitBit would be useful for motivation to walk a little bit further.0 -
I have both a Fitbit and an HRM (Polar ft4) I love them both. I wear the Fitbit all day except for when i am doing cardio exercises like Zumba. I use the HrM to make sure I stay within my appropriate heart rate and to count calories burned.
The Fitbit has helped me get more active and count my walking calories that I am not aware of. For the past 4 days I have done over 10,000 steps a day every day.
I think they were both worth the investment.0 -
Prefer them both.
Enjoy the FitBit for keeping me aware all day of how active I am. Like the way that it syncs with MFP.
Really like the HRM (I have a Polar FT7) for better tracking based on heart rate when I'm really pushing the walks and when doing resistance training - and in particular for being in the pool, which is an important part of my routine and where the FitBit won't go.0 -
I have an HRM and I love it. I've never really thought about getting a FitBit, but this thread makes me want to reconsider.0

I have both... a polar hrm (think it is a ft7?) and recently got a fitbit... I love both of them! I wear the fitbit all the time, except when I do cardio, then I use my hrm as I think it's more accurate. I was mostly interested in the fitbit tracking my sleep, but I love seeing how far I have walked every day too. Addicted to both! Very motivating.0

i can't find my HRM watch....i have the band, not the watch. starting to think of getting the fitbit--but what if i lose that too? i wish it could count a separate workout rather than just the whole day's worth of calories burnt.0
