My work day consists of sitting at a computer. Today, my family and I are walking through DC all day at museums and such. I was thinking of taking my HRM and running it for the day, then take however many hours and subtracting 100 calories per hour (what I normally burn just sitting around) and taking the difference as my exercise calories as I won't make it to the gym. As I being too desperate or would you consider that as a form of exercise and a good way to calculate it? Any suggestions are welcome

i don't think that's cheating at all! I live in seoul, south korea and saturday are days we spend all day exploring and sightseeing. those are my favorite days for eating because we walk so much, i get to eat a ton. and i don't get nearly as scientific as you. if we're out and about for five hours, i try to guess how much of that time I actually spent walking. then i'll put in anywhere from 60 to 180 minutes of walking slow (2.0 mph), and it totals like 600 or more calories. it's been working so far.

that was the biggest change I made in my life.....day to day exercise. I have been on 3 vacations since changing my life and have lost 1-3 pounds on each one because I walked everywhere, took the stairs, raced my BFF to lunch and made wiser choices when eating.

I burned 1300 extra calories voting in the Presidential Race. I had to go on Sunday and wait in a line due to other obligations. I met some great ppl and burned a LOT of calories........

    Have fun today!:flowerforyou:

I was in living in S. Korea for three years! LOL, I absolutely hated it and was counting down the days until I could leave. Hope you enjoy it more than I did!
