Personally no I do not agree. I do not think it matters when you eat or what kind of food you eat at any time of day. I am a calories in vs calories out person.

No. eating late at night and gaining weight from it is just a myth. It's fine to eat at night, what matters is your day as a whole. I hate eating late at night only because I get weird dreams and my stomach hurts when I wake up. It just sits in your stomach and digests suuuuuper slow while you're sleeping.

I don't. I don't restrict what I eat by anything but portion size.

My dad-in law who is a crazy intense worker-outer and
health guru has told me only "wet carbs" in the evening.
That would include stuff like celery and some other vegetables
(no fruit though, too much sugar).

For myself, any eating after 7pm is pretty much a guaranteed gain for me.

I don't agree w/ rules in general, but skipping the carbs at night has helped me break through plateaus.
  • um no. Eat anything ANYTIME you want. Calories are calories, just eat less of them to lose weight. Thats it. People make shiz so complicated. Eat a cake in bed at 2:00am for all your body cares. As long as you're within your calorie goal its all good
  • Yes! Thats what my father said (a fitness trainer) but he insists on telling me not to eat after 8 if my bed time is like 10 30 , 11 oclock.
  • I highly agree. I will trust a woman that has lost 72 pounds <3

No, never, no. I take carbs at night based on the workout I've completed during the day and the one I have planned for the morning. Period.

It doesn't matter what time of day you eat anything, except in relation to working out. The importance of the timing of eating, how many meals a day, breakfast being important, not eating at night, etc. are all myths.
  • I might be the exception, since I am diabetic, but if I have have had a day with lots of excercise I sometimes NEED to eat at night in order to ensure the blood sugars do not dip too low.

Under normal, routine circumstances, I would not, normally, eat after 6pm, but it is by no means a hard and fast rule. It all depends on whatever else I have had to eat during the day and how active a day it has been. Eating at night definitely makes you feel more sluggish when you wake in the morning. That said I think, if you watch the calories, there really isnt a limit on WHEN you eat. Just WHAT you eat. For example, eating something with loads of carbs would keep me awake all night. Something like a 1/4 Apple would be ok after a couple of hours.
  • If you have to, make sure they are complex carbs and go easy. Protein is better, especially if you are working out. your body will use it to repair and build muscle and tissues.

My doctor did recommend avoiding night carbs. Generally, I am trying to cut back on carbs altogether, so it helps keep it in my mind.

I do to a degree but I don't practice it. Sometimes I have air popped popcorn at night and I've been losing. I think what matters more is what kind of carbs you are eating and how many you are eating.

This last few weeks I limited carbs after 4PM and I have broken through my plateau and reached my goal weight...so yes, it has worked for me recently.
