My Facebook friend lost 50 lbs. using this site so i thought I would give it a go. I have set up a 12-week nutrition (I hate the word diet) and exercise program and my goal is to lose 24 lbs. to start. I bought groceries today after finding a stack of healthy low-fat recipes which will make it easier for me to stay on track. Got rid of all the sugar and junk food left in the house. I am 62 years old and can't afford to take my health for granted anymore.

I am an avid hiker and I want to lose weight to improve my distance and endurance. I also have arthritis in my knees, so need to take a load off.

I live in the West Los Angeles area if anyone wants a buddy. Or a hiking partner!

You're in the right place if you want to lose weight :) MFP has been really helpful with my fitness journey (it's a lifestyle change, not a diet).
Welcome! I don't live anywhere near Los Angeles, but I can always use new friends for motivation!

Hiya, I'm a bit too far away to be ur hiking partner lol (I'm a Kiwi and live in Christchurch NZ) but if you want an MVP friend, u r welcome 2 send me a request. I started with MVP in April and have been working really hard - I have lost 24 lbs over 4 months. My suggestion wld be to lose the weight no more than 2lb a week otherwise u may end up putting it all back on. Slow is better. I have arthritis in my right knee and my exercise is walking, mowing the lawns (if it's going to rain), baking and general stuff around the backyard and the house. Sometimes my knee is sore and other times it isn't. I tend to work thru those sorts of inconveniences as I'm sure you will understand. I've been a yo-yo dieter for years and HATE the "D" word but this time is going to be it and that's all there is to it. GOOD LUCK!!!
