High Intensity Weight Training-chaLEAN or Les Mills

I've recently reached a plateau on my weight loss. When I talked to my dr about it she felt that I am doing too much cardio (I run about 3x per week & do Turbo Fire) & I do a strength training video about 1-2x per week. My dr thinks I need to do high intensity weight training. I do all my workouts at home so I am debating between purchasing Chalean Extreme or Les Mills Pump. They are both so different that I'm not sure which one I want & what will give me the best results. I like that Les Mills comes with weights but it is lighter weights with more reps. If I purchase Chalean I will need to add heavier weights to my current collection. Any recommendations from anyone who has done these programs?! Thanks!!

I do body pump at the gym three times a week. I love it. It really helped me to lose inches and my arms are really lean with true muscle definition.0

Strange advice from a doctor.
I'd get him to clarify exactly what she means.0 -
I was a certified Body Pump instructor when I met my husband 13 years ago, and nothing ever changed my body as much as Pump did. I let Pump and my overall fitness go as I had babies and began our family, and in the past year have ramped up my fitness again, realizing that it is important, and I am a better mom when I am happy, healthy, and fit. I did an entire round of Chalean Extreme before deciding to start Les Mills Pump. I wish Pump was out when I was considering starting CX because I would have done it exactly opposite, and done Pump first, and then CX as a follow up. The results I have gotten from Pump have been so much quicker and more obvious then from the Chalean Extreme--no comparison. I am thinking I may add the CX back in 1-2 days per week in a month or so, as I am done the Les Mills workout calendar and have just been adding it in with my running 2-3 days per week. My vote is to get a good strength and endurance base with the Pump, and then move on to the CX to enhance muscle mass. BTW--please don't fear the numbers going up on the scale when you start either, because they will. Remember that you are building muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat!!!0

I don't know why someone would think this is strange advice from a doctor. She said she hit a plateau and her Doctor is saying increase weight training. Sounds like sound advice to me.
MayMichelle, I use to do mainly cardio which was great getting the first 10-15 pounds off. But I also hit a plateau even though I was doing high intensity cardio everyday. I then started P90X and I can tell you the difference since I started concentrating more on weights than cardio. Still doing cardio 2-3 times a week. Since I started working on lifting I dropped another 10 pounds and can see a change in my body shape. So thank you for posting this. I am also interested in hearing what people think of Chalean vs. Les Mills.0 -
Thanks to everyone who responded!! Yes, I see my Dr. For all things health & wellness as well. She has helped me on this journey with tweaking my diet & exercise. This past week, she even got down on the floor with me to do pushups...pure awesome! I think I'm going to go ahead & order pump first...I'm very excited!! Also, thanks for reminding me not to worry if #'s on the scale go up! Thanks again!!0
