Getting in the Exercise

Im hoping that the wonderful people on MFP can help me out with this. Im new to this site and getting healthier in general - my goal is to lose 150lbs or the equivilent in inches. Heres my dilemma - I drive a little over an hour to work, then spend the day at a desk on a construction site (walking around on breaks etc not very practical or safe) then drive a little over an hour home - then I try to get the housework done and eat and try to find some time for exercise- does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fit some kind of exercise into my work day - right now my work-out time is pretty much relegated to the weekends. Thanks for all the help and encouragement!

Would it be an option to park some where and walk the rest of the way to work ?0

If getting in the exercise is tough focus more on nutrition and workout harder on your days off. Try making a rule that you don't eat in the car and while at work your meals are as healthy as possible.
What I have done for my work days that I don't move as well, the night before I'll make it to the gym for 20 minutes and do as many squats and lunges and legs as I can and the next day I won't want to move...this way my leg work outs are perfect when work time is for recovery0 -
other than drinking my shake/breakfast I dont eat in the car - walking from further in isnt practical as further in is too far away but it was a great idea. It has helped that the guys that I work with are all (for the most part) very healthy eaters and their eating habits are rubbing off on me - the down side is they're all a LOT more active than I am - I'll try the eating healthier during the week and keep the big work-outs for the weekends0

I don't mean any disrespect, though I'm sure some people will see this as rude, but we all have issues and responsibilities that compete for our time, attention and energy. If you're serious about it, you'll find a way. It's that simple. Make the commitment.0

OP.
I get up an hour early, have tea or coffee, lift heavy weights then go to work as a retail manager.
I walk over 16k steps a day and drive an hour and in Baltimore to boot.
Stop making excuses and do it!
You only need 30-60 mins 3x a week.
Just make it happen!
If you dont have weights to work with then google Convict Conditioning and choose 3 different body weight exercises to do that target upper/core/lower.
Do these 3x a week for like 5 sets to failure.
Or
You arent ready for this journey.
Youll make it happen though!

Thanks for the replys - all Im really looking for is suggestions if anyone knows of quick exercises/changes that I can make that will let me get a few minutes of exercise in whenever I can - I like the idea of tracking my steps and just got a pedometer to start doing so. I'll also check out that website Dan - thanks again everyone!0

I say, find a gym extremely close to where you work, and get it out of the way before you get in the car for your drive home.0

I work in two different places. One office is about 36 minutes away, the other is a little over 1 hour away. On those days. I get up earlier to drive over and walk. I do like being close to the office in case of any problems. Maybe if it isn't safe to walk at the site, find a nearby spot that is safe and walk there before going on to work. It is not easy to get up so early to walk, but as I see myself shrinking, it is worth it. I get everything ready to go the night before. Clothes, lunch, etc so that all I have to do is up shower and go.0
