Need help using BF calipers

I know one of you fitness experts will be able to help with this :-) I bought the MetaCal body measurement calipers, and I'm not sure how to get the reading from the front of my thigh. There is not a lot of fat there, so if I try to pull up a skin flap, I'm pretty sure I'm getting some muscle too. Does anyone have an illustration or video of what is the proper way to use this tool? I tried Youtube, but I couldn't find the video doing this specific measurement.

I've never done it before, but when the fitness pro at the gym does my measurement she always tells me to make sure my quad muscle is as relaxed as possible (keeping the knee slightly bent helps with this). Then she measures about halfway up my thigh on the outside, not right above the knee. She applies gentle pressure and uses the thumb and forefinger (mimicking the caliper) to pinch about an inch of skin and fat. It's not an exact science, though.
