Hello, I am a dessertoholic

Does anyone else have an aching sweet tooth? I know I do. And it is a humungous problem for me. I eat pretty healthy-organic and local food- and I avoid processed foods. But dessert has become a part of my everyday life. I believe it is the thing standing between me and losing weight. It is a weight issue but it is also a health issue. In no way is it benefitting me. So why can't I stop? Because I am addicted. I wonder if there is a group like alcoholics anonymous for people who are like me, addicted to sweets. If there is, I would totally join. Anyways, I really need help to solve this problem. I need to cut out the icecream and the cinnamon rolls (from my bakery)that I am constantly consuming. Help!

I get it! I would join a dessertoholic group. I can stay away from anything really unless its dessert. Here is what I do: I allow for treats in my cal and plan them out and I have a two bite rule. 2 bites and I am done it usually works but some days I bomb!0

I totally understand! I do pretty well at not eating a bunch for supper. But then I screw it all up by gorging on dessert. We should start a dessertoholic group right now to offer each other support and motivation. Bye bye desserts, hello healthy and hot bod.0

 I have a HUGE sweet tooth. I've been trying to control it for months now. I do pretty good, but I have my moments! I love those Jello 60 calorie puddings. I also eat protein bars. They certainly aren't a Reese's Cup, but they taste pretty good. =D0

there's always a little room for dessert if you're careful about your other meals. so every once in a while, have some dessert! i used to feel addicted to dessert, but slowly weened myself over to what i like to call "dessert flavored" foods. for days when you want your sweets but shouldn't be eating desert, there's plenty of beneficial "dessert flavored" foods to choose from. one of my favorites is the many flavors of yopliat fat free yogurt. its tastes awesome when frozen. my favorite flavors are the key lime pie and strawberry shortcake. whenever i need chocolate, i make myself a tall glass of chocolate milk (with oveltine powder). this at least has vitamins and minerals that i need. there are also many actual desserts that have been made more healthy, such as the 100 calorie cookie packs, and the Smart Ones brand of a few frozen desserts. don't ever try to just ignore your sweet tooth, it will only get worse. i hope you can find things to satisfy you0

Thanks for the advice. Everything in moderation is my motto (but I can't seem to follow it in the aspect that I most need to-dessert). Perhaps I should take it slowly. It's so very hard to go cold turkey right away. So I'll limit myself to a dessert a few times per week, and then go down to once a week. I would also like my definition of dessert to change. Right now I think of ice cream and cookies and candy as dessert. But what if I was satisfied with healthier alternatives like candied pecans or a square of dark chocolate? Those items still contain sugar, but their the best of the worst. At least they have some nutritional value. Here I go! On my way to a healthier, more fit me! Goodbye and goodluck!0
