Bad Feet - Exercise tips?

Okay, I have TWO bad feet - planters fascistic AND heel pad syndrome in the left foot and morton's neuroma in my right foot. It's very painful and very frustrating. I am seeing a doctor and going to PT with little success so far.
Because of this (and the thing called summer) I was on hiatus for a couple months - I am back today. Kids are back in school and I need to get control again...I have gained all my 9 pounds back and I'm again miserable.
Okay - tips and tricks on what I can do for exercise with two bad, painful, sore feet? I am going to PT for the feet...but I think I need to do some sort of exercise in addition to eating well right?
I did the elliptical this morning for about 10 minutes - it was all I could handle. I am walking a bit...but again, 1-2 miles a day. Is that enough?? What else can I do to LOSE??
Thanks friends!

Hi I also have problems with severe heel pain in my right foot so I completely sympathise as I have had to stop taking part in aerobics classes and other high impact exercise which has meant that combined with some unhealthy eating during the holidays I have also gained weight I had lost. However, in an effort to reverse some of the weight gain I started going swimming a few weeks ago after a friend suggested it as a way of exercising which would keep me off my feet. So far I have managed 2-3 times a week and I have been following a plan which swaps between general lane swimming and timed laps. I have found that this is really good for stretching out my legs and feet and doesn't put any pressure on my heel at all whilst helping burn calories, if you do have a pool near you I would recommend giving it a try.
Good luck with the PT as well, I am also finding this slow going but hope over time it will make a difference!0
