Hand to mouth disease

I thought I just had a problem with nighttime nibbling. Turns out I have one with afternoon nibbling too. Sheesh. I have nice, healthy, nutritious, tasty breakfasts and lunches, and then the nibbles begin. It's almost like I eat a whole extra meal with my nibbling. It leaves me with an amount of calories for dinner that I know will not satisfy me. What to do, what to do?

I am a snacker also. I have found that keeping most of my snacks in an out of the way place helps. I put everything I like to snack on in a plastic tote and in the garage- that way I have to really really want it to go through the hassle of getting into the box. I do keep a few unhealthy snacks handy but they are premeasured ready to grab and eat in little ziplock baggies- I write things like "those size 18 jeans are calling to you" on the baggie to remind myself why i don't want to snack (doesn't always work)- and i keep things like fresh fruits and veggies cut up and packaged so I can grab and go. I do allow myself snacks at night (I sat up reading till the wee hours of the morning most of the time) as long as i don't go over my cal count for the day.0
