How does a "Gymrat" restart weightloss?

I am just re-starting my weightloss journey at 207 lbs. I'm 46 years old, 5'2 and wear a size 14/16. (I think its a lot of muscle under the fat because last time I weighed 207 I wore an 18.) I've been going to the gym since Feb 2012, about 3-4 days a week for 40 minutes mostly cardio and one day a week for 20 minutes weighttraining. I haven't been eating right so I have got back into keeping my food diary on MFP, for accountability and support.
Question: How do I restart my weight loss, should I take a break from the gym and cut back on calories? Is there a way to shock my system into that burn?
Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Hello,
I had lost a large amount of weight over a year ago and have pretty much maintained, but am still 195lbs at 5'4". I obviously have a ways to go to get to my goal and have recently gotten restarted. Exercise AND eating properly is the key. You have already won half the battle!!!!! Keep going to the gym and don't ever stop. Always be the "Gymrat" and your body will thank you. As for the eating, yes accountability is huge. Write everything, I mean every little bite, down. Keep a balanced diet and cut out refined sugar/processed foods and you will see yourself change. Don't give up. I came across a great post the other day...
When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
and forget all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your points a bit,
It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
If you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the struggler's, when loosing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
that the race wasn't over...they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,

I think you would restart the weightloss by just going back in the gym and cleaning up your diet asap. Sounds like you are familiar with the gym routine (cardio and weight training).
I'm 47. I weigh 170 and want to get to 140. I've been cheating my booty off the past few days but don't want to give up so i'm restarting tomorrow myself.0 -
