In search of support and inspiration

Hello everyone!

I don't really have to lose weight, I just need to get fit and achieve a higher grade of a healthy lifestyle.

My biggest problem is quitting working out after only 2-3 weeks. I can't seem to be able to keep it up and so I never arrive at any substantial results. Sometimes it's an illness or lack of time, but mostly it's some sort of mental block that I can't seem to be able to 'climb' over.

Anyone with similar problems?

I need support and inspiration!

Good afternoon (well its afternoon in the UK).

I also struggle with keeping up exercise. I find it really to come up with excuses not to go to the gym; e.g I've had a busy day at work; Missing one day won't make a difference etc.

To counter this I do a number of things:

    1. Whenever I am thinking of not going to the gym I remember a saying "You never regret going to the gym but you always regret not going to the gym".
    2. I keep a spreadsheet of all the times I go to the gym and how long I spend there. At the beginning of each year I set myself a target of number of times visiting and amount of time spent. I find logging all the activity against my target really helps. Its probably one of the resons I like MFP so much.

Any way hope these radom thoughts give you soem ideas and feelf ree to add me.

  • I think that when you are really ready you will not make excuses to not exercise. I have been riding the diet and exercise rollercoaster for years. When I set out to lose weight this time I did it for me because I was tired of looking in the mirror and not liking what I saw. You should get up every morning and say today is a great day to get healthy. Make it your goal to just do 15 mins of walking to get you motivated who knows you may just keep going and end up doing 30, or 40 minutes, which would be great. The thing is anything is better than nothing so even when you feel like giving up, keep on pushing because the only person you are hurting by not exercising is you.

    Good Luck and Keep Moving
