Daily Calorie Goal Question

OK....I've been on WW in the past, and I lost a significant amount of weight and then gained it all back.....Fast forward to today...5 yr old twins, 40+ yrs old, slow metabolism, no energy, etc. I've been on MFP for almost 3 wks, and my weight has fluctuated up and down so much that I'm nauseaus. lol Anyway, when I first signed up, I checked the box in my profile to "loose 2 lbs a wk" with a daily calorie goal of ~1600 calories. I just found this post (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12), and I entered all my information and found that my daily calories are ~2900 calories a day.....that's a ~1300 difference. Should I choose the recommended option of loosing 1 lb a week? I appreciate any and all comments.

I had no idea there was an option in our profiles to check on how many lbs we want to lose a week.
I wish I had an answer for you.. I also used to do WW but I love MFP so much better because it helps me track all categories. \\
That sure is a big difference, you're right!0 -
If you would be so kind to open your diary so we can make a better assessment, that would be much appreciated.0

2900 sounds like a lot- are you sure about those figures?0

If you change your goal on MFP from 2lbs per week to 1lb per week, MFP will give you another 500 calories a day.
These are the daily calorie deficits that MFP uses:
2 lbs per week: 1000 calorie deficit
1.5 lbs per week: 750 calorie deficit
1 lb per week: 500 calorie deficit
.5 lb per week: 250 calorie deficit\
MFP will not ever give a female a daily calorie goal under 1200 per day or a male a calorie goal under 1500 per day.0 -
Do the road map link you post. Find out your TDEE and the BMR and if you have exercise daily. When I figured it out on MFP, it had me eating like 1200-1300 calories a day and I was super hungry. I'm still figuring things out myself, but I'm eating closer to 2300 now with my exercise included in that amount. Maybe more people can help you. Sorry.0
