Disappointed/Frustrated

Thanks to "Disappointed"... I relate all too well. I am in my third month of doing an hour on the bike at the gym... Was not losing, so I began eating all my exercise calories -- and I gained this week. So discouraged. Needing support. Late night raid on the frig. Posted all those calories this morning. Tomorrow is weigh-in and I know I was up one pound before my binge. Seems I can't eat all my exercise calories and still lose weight. Help! I want to throw in the towel, but my mobility issues are at stake. Sigh. I will press on, but would like some help.

Hold on! I am having exactly the same feelings right now. I am completely confused about what works and what doesn't because the scale seems to have no rhyme or reason. I am doing what MFP says and hit a plateau (well, setback as I gained one back) for no apparent reason other than ...???? I don't know how to help you but I am thinking a hug to you as I know I need one today.

If we could see your diary, maybe somebody could give some insight. I eat back some of my exercise calories, but not all, and I usually use them to eat fueling type food rather than junk though on occassion an icecream sunday or candy bar does sneak in. Good luck.

Also i've found I my weight fluctuates throughout the month and I usually only record a loss two of the four weeks, the other weigh-ins are up a bit. I used to only record the low, but I'm strating to record weekly just to show the fluctuation. I hit goal this week and decided to lowere it another 7 pound, it hasn't been fast, but it has been consistent.
  • You also need to vary up your workouts. If you're doing the bike for an hour for 3 months, your body will get really used to it and stop losing the inches and pounds. If you change it up and do something totally different but equally as hard every couple of days, your body will be like "holy crap! i can't keep up and get used to this!!!" so it just keeps working hard without any set of muscles getting used to anything. you also need to watch your entire nutrition info, not just calories. i can eat within my calories one day, but if you look at my diary, it could be that i ate mcdonalds and chipotle. granted, i didn't go over calories, but i went WAY over in sugar, fat, carbs, etc. you need to get into your diary settings and watch everything... not just calories. try these things and see what happens. feel free to add me if you'd like. i'm here to help others and get help from others as well. :)
