Having a hard time getting my calories.

So this might be long winded, and for that I apologize...
Also the last few days I have been in some threads with people who are very rude and 'You're stupid how could you not know that.'
Please leave the negativity at the door...

I'm finding that with the more I get into fitness, the more I'm becoming afraid of eating.
I'm finding it very hard to increase my calorie intake, without spiking my carbs/fats.
My goal used to be 2,000...I lost five pounds, wanted it to go further and brought myself down to 1,500...and on some days I can't even get that.
I feel weak...but I shouldn't be hungry! :(
If you have time and could take a look over my food diary, maybe make some suggestions of higher calorie/not higher bad stuff intake I would really appreciate it.

A little back story: I have Borderline Personality Disorder, amongst other things. I find that when I do something, I overdo it completely (I have had eating disorders in the past...:( ) and when I feel like I fail, even when I don't really...I'm really hard on myself. I think part of it is that I recently had a heart attack and I'm pretty much scared to almost death....

I appreciate the support in advance. :)

1.If you were losing at 2000 calories, there was no reason to lower it to 1500. The only time you make adjustments to your caloric intake or exercise volume is when your progress stalls. Progressively creating a larger deficit when not necessary can slow down weight loss and potentially lead to hormonal and metabolic problems down the road. It also does not allow you enough time to see how your body responds at certain caloric intake levels.

2.Eating fats and carbs does not make you fat - eating considerably above what it takes for you to maintain your weight, on the other hand, will.

    3. I notice pretty much everything you eat is pre-made and processed. Try making a few simple meals from scratch.

Edit: Your macros aren't that bad to be honest. I read in your profile one thing you feel you need to be more committed to is working out. One goal you should keep in mind is to retain as much muscle tissue while dieting. You can accomplish that by: a) eating a minimum of 1g of protein per lb of lean body mass and b)doing moderate to heavy resistance training involving sets of 6-10 reps to near failure. This will ensure the losses you make will be from true fat loss, thus sparing precious muscle tissue.

Overdoing weight loss goals will actually stop your weight loss in its tracks.

For YEARS I would go weeks at a time, several times a year, going full over board with dieting. I'd eat very little (mostly vegetables) and do tons of cardio. Result was stalling in 2 weeks and almost no fat loss at all.

If you feel weak, that means you are not getting enough nutrition in your diet and you need to fix that. You won't be losing much on a crash and burn plan at all.

Weight training, sufficient caloric intake for 1 pound a week fat loss and you'll be golden. Best thing to do is NOT get TOO into it. Because then you notice weight loss slowing down just one week and then freak out and throw a good plan to the wind and start doing bad things.

I also took a look at your diary, and aside from what geekyjock said, I would like to add: Most, if not all of your carbs are coming from simple carbohydrates. Grains and sugars. Your body is breaking them down into energy quickly, which will cause insulin spikes, and spiking blood sugar levels. Without complex carbohydrates, your blood sugar levels will crash shortly after, making you crave more simple foods.

My suggestion: Eat less bread and rice and similar things, eat more fruit and veggies!

The potassium in fruit and vegetables will also balance out the sodium you get from everything else.

    What's your height/weight?
  • In this case, slow and steady wins the race. If 2,000 was working for you - I would stick to that!

Also, are you currently seeing a therapist? S/he might be able to help with keeping you in a healthy mindset. One of my best friends has Borderline Personality Disorder and she also has eating issues, so I kind of know where you are coming from.

Please feel free to add me :-)

I only looked back for the past few days, but if they are typical then you are not eating enough fat. Add healthy fats like olive or canola oil to your cooking. Add avocado, nuts, nut butters or seeds to your diet.

I totally agree with eating my healthy fats like canola oil or virgin olive oil. Add them to your salads, for example. (Chef's salad is very good). Another poster stated that eating more wholesome foods would be great. Things like veggies; I love mine raw and find them very filling. In addition the nutrients are very good for us. Fruits are another one to add. They are also very healthy and I treat fruits as a dessert, curbing my cravings for sweets. I also limit things like corn, breads, rice, and pasta. When I do have these items, I opt for whole grain or multigrain. White is just fluff, in my eyes.

I also wouldn't cut the calories back to 1500 when you were losing at 2000. You're feeling shaky because your body is trying to get your attention. Please listen to it.
    I hope this helps.

Thank you all for your replies, it means a lot.
I know that a lot of my food is frozen, and unfortunately I'm not able to cook at the house I'm currently living in and I can only spend 45 on food a week, so it's definitely a challenge. Not that it's an excuse, I just haven't found the work around yet. I also worry about the amount of sugars in fruit... Maybe it's because I'm poorly educated. I admit that.

    Here are my stats:
    Height: 5'10"
    SW: 375
    CW: 250
GW: 170 (I have a large frame. Amazon to the core.)

I also have PCOS....my body is confused and anytime it wants food it wants CARBS. Carbs, deep fried in fat, and rolled in chocolate. The insulin spikes and bam I feel craptastic. I also feel very sick when I eat raw veggies, has anyone else had this problem? It causes like...really painful bloating.

I'm trying to go to therapy, but financial struggles make even that difficult...
Aren't whole grains complex carbs? Maybe I read something wrong.

As always I appreciate everyone's input, it really helps!
I've lost about nine.4 pounds in 22 days....is that too fast?
